U19's Striker Kane Hemmings training with the 1st team today..... If we don't sign a striker before the end of the transfer window we might well see this lad getting an opportunity. It's certainly something I'd like to see, even if he just gets a chance in cup games because he's scored a lot of goals at youth level.

Is kane hemmings a product from Murray park and if so, give the lad a shot :)

He's English and will be 19 in April. He apparently grew up a Rangers fan and he played for Tamworth youth squads for 3 years before we signed him in the summer of 2008. Elfideldo who regularly watches the youths obviously rates him highly because he writes that Kane was badly missed by the U19s last season when he got a knee injury and missed the last couple of months of the season. He said "his power, pace and goals were badly missed". Not sure how up to date it is, but an article I found on the lad states that in 145 appearances he's scored 73 goals. Here is the article -

Personal Information

Kane Hemmings was born April 1992 and is son of ex footballer Tony Hemmings. He was bought up in Burton-On-Trent and was educated and William Hutson Junior School before moving on to De Ferrers Specialist Technology College. At a young age Kane was well known for his footballing talents and had sucessful trials at a range of Midlands clubs, including Derby and Birmingham. At aged 13 he moved from playing in the Burton and District Football League to a Midlands Football League with Tamworth Town, where he won top goal scorer award in the 2006-2007 season. After 3 very sucessful years with Tamworth he finally got has opportunity to play for the team he supported as a boy, Glasgow Rangers. He went up to Scotland and had a range of sucessful trials which tested all of his footballing talents and in the end, in June 2008 he signed a two year contract to play for the Scottish Giants. Finally he left his home town to move to Scotland and play for his dream club, after having taken his GCSE's. He loved his best mates Alex Brown and Charlie Bullock.

Footballing Facts

Kane started off playing football for a Burton Junior football league club called Belvadere Park at under 10s level, where he played on saturday mornings at shobnall fields. During this time belvadere were very sucessful winning the league three times in a row. When he was playing in the under 11s league he wanted more of a challenge so he moved up an age group to play for shobnall warriors aswell as playing for belvedere, this was how keen kane was. At this time he was also playing for William Hutson Junior School football team who at this point were very sucessful winning multiple cups. As h moved into senior school he went straight into the year 7 football team who won the league and cup double that year. Kane was a big factor in his year football team being very sucessful. When he moved into year 9 he moved to Tamworth town where he had 3 very sucessful seasons there including a cup win in May 2008. Throughout this year Kane has been on trial with Glasgow Rangers and this last month signed a 2 year contract with the Scottish Giants.

Actually I've just realised that the article I posted was from June 2008, so the figure of 73 goals in 145 appearances is well out of date now. Would be interesting to get some up to date stats!

Hem Hits The Mark

24.01.2011By Andrew Dickson

BILLY KIRKWOOD says Kane Hemmings isn't far from hitting peak condition again after he capped his competitive comeback on Saturday with a goal against Kilmarnock.

The Englishman took just three minutes to find the net in the 3-1 SPL under-19 league win over the Ayrshiremen at Murray Park.

Further goals from Robbie Crawford and Andrew Mitchell sealed the victory late in the game to move Gers four points clear of Hearts at the top of the table after 11 games.

But the real talking point was Hemmings' successful return to action following a hugely beneficial stay in Turkey with the youths recently.

The 19-year-old scored 10 goals in two games whilst the team was at a training camp in Alanya as he stepped up his comeback from a long-term knee injury.

Having found the net once again, coach Kirkwood is confident there is even more to come from the former Tamworth forward in the weeks ahead.

He said: "We're all delighted Kane is back scoring for us again and I'm sure he is delighted as well. It has been a long haul for him.

"He had a knee injury to start with and had a wee tidy up operation, during which we found out there was something more serious to deal with.

"That got fixed and it has been a long road to recovery for him but it's great he got through our recent trip to Turkey and that he's back in the team again.

"The games we played while we were abroad were really useful for him as he got plenty of efforts on goal and scored a lot while he was over there.

"Now he is putting that into good practice when it matters. We'll continue to monitor him as we get him up to full fitness.

"He has started really well and I'm sure in two or three games time that he'll be back to his best. Once he's at that stage he'll make a real contribution."

Hemmings got Gers got off to the perfect start against Killie when Max Wright and Crawford combined to win possession and tee up the striker.

But just after the hour mark, Rory McKenzie levelled for the visitors and it was game on again.

The hosts were the better side on the day though and they did enough to win the match in the latter stages as they responded well.

With 16 minutes remaining, Christiano Kisuka set up Crawford and he put Kirkwood's team back in front.

Substitute Mitchell then sealed a good win with six minutes to go after he came on for Wright, supplying a cool finish after Rhys McCabe's pinpoint through ball.

Kirkwood added: "We were delighted to get the three points after the break and our training camp.

"Some of the under-19s stayed in Glasgow to augment the reserves and help in training so we had to gel everyone together again when we returned home and it worked well.

"It was pleasing to see the team get better as the game progressed on Saturday. Credit to Kilmarnock, they gave us a very difficult game.

"We were 1-0 up and perhaps should have gone further ahead before they equalised but we finished the match strongly and got a good victory."

Rangers, meanwhile, sent a mixture of youths and reserves to Inverness yesterday for a friendly with Clachnacuddin and emerged 4-2 winners.

The likes of Kyle Hutton, Gregg Wylde, Jordan McMillan and Salim Kerkar all played in front of a crowd of 700 at Grant Street Park.

First-half goals from Anthony Marenghi and Adam Hunter had the visitors leading 2-1 at the break and a second half brace from Ewan McNeil won the game.

RANGERS (v Kilmarnock): Inglis, McAusland, Hegarty, Wiktorski, Hetherington (McNeil), Wright (Mitchell), McCabe, Crawford, Kisuka (McLeod), Naismith, Hemmings.

RANGERS (v Clach): Adam, Lindsay (Fotheringham), McIntyre, McMillan, Kerkar, Hutton, Mitchell (McLeod), Hunter, McNeil (Espling), Marenghi, Wylde.
