Skysports.com understands Birmingham are bracing themselves for a bid from Galatasaray for midfield kingpin Barry Ferguson.

The Turkish side are believed to have made an enquiry for Ferguson and are ready to follow up their interest in the classy midfield playmaker.

Ferguson has been a massive success at Birmingham since his arrival from Rangers in the summer of 2009 and has been one of the most impressive performers in the Premier League.

The former Rangers star, who won the Birmingham City players' Player of the Year award for 2009-10, was rewarded for his fine form with a new deal at St Andrews last summer.

Ferguson's performances have caught the interest of a number of clubs across Europe and Galatasaray are ready to test Birmingham's resolved to keep hold of the player.

Birmingham would be loath to lose Ferguson, but they could face a battle to keep him if Galatasaray offer a lucrative deal for the former Scotland international.

He's been playing well and no doubt the Turks would offer him silly money to join them.

He could play for a much better team than that, the Turkish league is shite now.

He's almost back to the player he was as a youngstar, madness considering how awful he was in his last season here. Much like Charlie Adam, Walter Smith obviously could not get anything out of a talented technically minded footballer.

When the spot light is moved off Ferguson and he isnt the certain of attention nor the man who has to do everything then he is no doubt a good player. He has shone at Birmingham and I always thought he played better for Scotland than Rangers coz it wasnt all about him.

He'd be silly to go to Turkey though.

Nowhere near it. That's just an excuse to have yet another pop at someone at the club.
