Boxing day game at Firpark could be in doubt

Recommended Posts

Sunday's game at Firpark could be in doubt folks. Just been on the main 'Well forum to see what they're saying and the fans are doubtful that the game will go ahead. They've had plumbers in working on a load of burst pipes in the south stand and other parts of the ground and have been maintaining that they're trying to make sure the game goes ahead, but someone who was out on the pitch today said it was rock hard and still lightly snow covered. On top of this I've seen myself that the pavements surrounding Firpark are all still covered in snow and ice, so potentially pretty dangerous for large crowds. Saturday night's temperature is forecast to be -7 or -8 and there's also snowfall forecast for Sunday.

Prediction - Game will be called off.

Get the game on. Im sick of nae football! Dont care if I fall on my erse!!

Hoping it's on, but thought it was wise to say there's a fair chance it'll be off. We really can't afford any more postponements, so fingers crossed that my prediction is wrong.

I have a fearful trip on Christmas day Aberdeen to Kilmarnock with those shit conditions on the road could be a few scary moments.

Take it easy on the speed and have a safe trip mate. Better to get there in one piece than drive too fast and end up in a crash. That A90 is total murder and I've crashed on it myself a few years back when a motorbike cut out in front of me trying to cross over the carriageway.

That's the game at Rugby Park called off today due to burst pipes. Reports are still saying that plumbers are trying to fix the pipes at Firpark, but tbh I can see this just being a measure being taken by Motherwell to show that they're being proactive and cover their arses given that they've been fined for call-offs in recent seasons.

Seen footage of some ground staff starting to clear snow off the pitch this afternoon, so you never know it might be on. They'll have cleared the snow off this afternoon so they can switch the under-soil heating on in the hope that it might thaw out the frozen turf in time. If they've managed to fix the burst pipes and clear the surrounding pavements in time it might go ahead after all. Let's hope so.

Possibly the best news I've heard all week.
