Gers backed by Beattie

Recommended Posts

What always cracks me up about fan getting their knickers in a twist over players talking to the press is that they mostly the players are just fulfilling the media commitments of their job. Neither McCulloch nor Beattie go chasing journalists around demanding they print their views. They are merely responding to questioning by Scottish media or club sources for official publications.

Totti, you were told the other day to cut out the personal abuse and profanity. You can make your point perfectly well without stooping to that. Giving you the benefiit of the doubt..... one last time.

Got to agree with MF, I think there is a bit of over reaction on your reply.

Then again your the boss.................

Why don't you calm down a bit and let people express themselves without this prefect act. You've used worse profanities yourself.

Continual profane attacks on McCulloch is getting a bit boring though to be honest. Whether you like him or not he does pull on a blue jersey and does at least try to do his best. Does supporting a team not mean supporting the players on the pitch? If you don't are you not as bad a supporter as you think he is as a player?

Pete, I agree with everything you say. The attacks on Lee McCulloch are overdone and in this case were completely unnecessary. However, football fans will always have players they like and those they dislike, it's the nature of the beast.

My complaint, if that's what it was, focussed on the apparent request for a poster to restrict their views because admin didn't happen to agree with them, which is also completely unacceptable. If we don't agree with someone, the normal course of action is to debate, not to censor. Other sites adopt that stupid policy but what I've seen of Gersnet tends to be a deal more mature. As for profanities, well we're all fukking sunk if they've got to go.;)

He gets one rule overturned and he appoints himself moderator of the moderators!

Rule number one .... think for yourself

Rule number two .... stay out of the inner circle

Rule number three .... don't let the bastards tell you what you should think

....... unless of course you feel the need to support pointless censorship by admin with manoeuvrable judgement and short memories?:)

Merry Christmas Barry

How do you suggest a sensible debate with Totti over whether or not McCulloch and Beattie are "dickheads" should go?

I can only assume you were not aware of the un-edited version of the post.

If you are not I'm not really fussed whether or not you think debating whether or not Rangers players are dickheads is debate worthy.

For what it's worth, my own opinion is that saying a player is fucking shit or useless is fine. Saying they are a dickhead or whatever is not. It's not useful. It doesn't generate debate (which is what we're here for after all). It's just a childish outburst that is not needed on the forum.

I or should I say we have no problem with anyone expressing their dislike of a player it is the unnecessary swearing and degrading name calling we have problems with. The Gersnet has always prided itself to be a forum of intelligent discussion and indeed freedom of speech. While we have no problems with the odd swear word being thrown in to enhance a point it gets a bit much when one sentence of 12 words contains 4 or 5 swear words. Sometimes on this website there are more guests on-line than members. We hope that some of these guests will one day become a member as we all probably have all followed that route. I know if my first impression was a forum full of swear words i would have been off in a shot. We are in no means trying to take anyone's freedom of speech away we are just asking for a bit better use of the Queens English. Less timesque and more prudistant.:)

Beattie was asked a question, he gave his opinion don't see any problem with it TBH............

There probably isn't anything wrong with it I just don't like reading what i think is inappropriate junk. If we ever get to the PL it will not be with this team.
