Bundesliga reconstruction could be the inspiration for change in Scottish game

Recommended Posts

Germany has a population of 80 million so are always going to get higher crowds. But the Bundesliga is one I watch sometimes and enjoy it. The whole set up is ran well and has a good knock on effect even for the national side who were the best to watch in the World Cup and was the best Ive ever seen a German team play, plus they are a young side.

Prices in the SPL must be reduced and higher numbers would come through essentially giving clubs more income. But the argument for summer football is another which would increase attendances, everyone would rather go to a match on a warm July evening than in a freezing Feb night.

Just because you say it, doesn't mean it's a given.

Just as conceivably when lowering prices the crowds might not change, if at all, essentially giving the clubs less income and seeing the standard of the league drop further. It is not necessarily true that the only reason people don't attend is prices.

Sure they have to price it as correctly as possible, combining maximum attendance with maximum income. Whether their pricing strategy is currently incorrect is not a given imo.

80 million people, 5 million people crunch the numbers there.

That figure of 5 million people in Scotland is total nonsense because it's based on the number of people registered to vote. The population of Scotland was close to 5 million 20 years ago when I did my higher Geography, so there's absolutely no way 5 million is an accurate figure for 2010. Anyway for the sake of it, say it's still 5 million even although it isn't -

Germany has 16 times the population of Scotland, 4.5 times the landmass/area & only 3.5 times the population density according to completely untrustworthy stats.
