Totti 0
Slighty worrying, non? We know we have a threadbare squad but fuck me, it reminds me of the days when you were a kid and you were sruggling for enough numbers on a sunday to fill the XI and bench. At the moment with this current Rangers team I find us a few players from being really good, and conversely a few players from being really bad. This has been a recurring theme since 2002/03 the last time we had a squad to match our size. Our good results this season are papering over the cracks of the archaic infrastructure our club has. I've yet to see improvement in scouting, youth et al. Where do we go from here? I used to hate the idea of having a billionaire running my club and splashing shed loads but I'd love that now. We have made no progression in the last 8 years other than 'steadying the ship', apart from the financial yoyo we seem to operate by (which is more down than up) Edited November 17, 2010 by Totti
johnnyk 158
Nothing to get worked about IMO.........
Frankie 8,692
It's not a huge issue as we can only make three subs anyway so the manager obviously felt we were well covered there. However, there is no doubt we lack depth and experience which is a worry as tougher matches and conditions approach. I'd like to see us sign a couple of players in January to supplement our squad. I believe we are still being strongly linked abroad to the Honduran Boniek who is apparently a fine player.
Gazza_8 233
Lafferty would've made the bench on Saturday but he injured himself at training on Friday. WS obviously thinks the youth players aren't ready to stick on the bench hence why only naming 6 subs.
Frankie 8,692
There's no need for 7 subs anyway for the most part so it's a non-issue if we just name 5 or 6 IMO. However, we do lack depth and are only another injury or two away from increased pressure on an already thin squad. For example if Bougherra doesn't make it for Saturday's match then that will mean a back 4 of: :rf: :kb: :sw: OK, that is still capable enough but we really need Webster fit and available for such matches. Especially when up against in-form players such as Sammon or even worse, the Man Utd strike-force. That's not even mentioning the fact Whittaker and Broadfoot are both suffering from knocks and the latter requires surgery.
Gazza_8 233
Boogies injury must be bad if he's missing an Algeria game. Re Webster, he'll never pull on a Rangers jerey again. We'd be as well just forgetting about him or even better, releasing him from his contract.
Zappa 0
It's not that we don't have the players. Apperently Walter had named a full bench for the game, but one of the lads didn't make it or pulled out at the last minute. Jordan McMillan was it??

He got injured very late on, I believe.

Not sure the stance with footballers, Managers can get the sack no problem so why cant players.

I also believe you cannot sack anyone who is on sick leave although i don't know if that is just a Dutch thing.
