Celtic 1 - 3 Rangers - Celtic shat their pants

Recommended Posts

Chuffed with the 3 points and was hilarious seeing their faces as the 2nd and 3rd went in. I had to bite my lip (dead hard) as I turned to face the crowd seconds after Miller scored his 1st. What a goal!

I actually can't think of anything harder. I wouldn't have the self restraint. :D

Some honest assessments from their boards:

They beat us because they're better than us. That result isn't - or shouldn't be a surprise to any of us that watch the game.

This Rangers side, won't roll over, and get tickled the way we did today. Look at the comments of the guys in here. They wanted it more and they got it because they are better. They're better managed with better players. No one wants to hear it. It's a fact. That's the huns been to Easter Road, Tynecastle, Pittodrie and Celtic Park. Won at all 4. They've been to Old Trafford and got a draw, beat Turkish Champions and gave Valencia a going over and were very unfortunate to win.

They played 15 games and are yet to be beat.

We've been horsed by Braga and Utrecht and given a lesson by them today is fight, spirit and ability.

It's not nice reading. It's there in front of you. And whilst some take the optimist route, I'll go the realist way. Like it or not.

"Pissed but depressingly unsurprised. Was gonna say the last time I felt like that was the 4-2 game in August 08, but tha game was a bolt from the blue...we went into it as champions and, as ropey as Strachan's teams were becoming, we'd scrapped like mad to win the title the season before. We were pish 2nd half, had no fight or structure. The manager needs to take his share of the blame as he rightly does with praise when it goes well.

The big difference between us and them, not just today, but thus far is they have a mentality we don't. We haven't had a winning mentality, when tested, since O'Neill's first couple of seasons. Strachan was lucky enough to come up against Big Feck's ailing team and the ridiculous PLG experiment. Then the Hun burnt themselves out chasing the UEFA Cup like the last hoor in George Square chasing a fare. They aren't a good side, but what they lack in quality and finesse they make up for in grit and determination. Walter Smith has done what he did during 9IAR, he's filled his team with Huns - either born Huns like Davis, Lafferty etc., or players who he can turn into Huns like Edu, Miller, Whittaker, Papac, Bougherra etc. He has a consistent side, and, as much as we've laughed at them and their dodgy financial dealings, selling Hutton & Cueller etc. to pay off debt, they've maintained a backbone we can, at this moment, only dream about. And that consistency, allied with team spirit I'm afraid, wins big OF games and wins titles.

As to where we go, we just have to dust ourselves down and keep the pressure on, hoping for a slip-up or three from them. I think they'll drop points, they always do. But so will we. One thing I will say is I honestly don't think we'd have won their game at Pittodrie after going 2-0, or won at Tynecastle. Those were games they'd have spilled points on last season. That worries me more than today TBH.

Samaras, for all I like him when he plays, is heartless when it matters and should be sold. Loovens I can't defend any more. Wilson's never been good enough but he's a stop-gap. Juarez and Ledley looked lost by the occasion but they still need time and a settled midfield to play in. Whether that's beside Ki, Brown or Kayal. TBH the whole team still needs time. Niggling injuries haven't helped. However, this is what happens when you have such a high turnover of players in successive seasons. Forster made two howlers but he's been solid apart from that. Still a young guy, he needs to lift his head and chalk them down to experience. His predecessor made his fair share of booboos in these games and more.

My hope is we're still in it by the Jan window so we can look at brining at least one CB and a RB in. No more excuses Peter and Dr J. Back the manager. With money not plaudits. Another striker who isn't a card liability, like Stokes, would be nice. KTF, and as pissy as it feels right now, I'd still rather be a Tim than one of those obnoxious, bigoted, monobrowed, goat-shagging brown-brogued human paraquats.

And I still blame Strachan for this mess."
