Yup, sorry, been very busy. They have our text, which they loved, and their graphic designers are currently working on producing a draft (which I'll post) and themselves a price.

They decided to go with just a simple elegant approach as appropriate to the message itself. Attached is a copy of how it will be presented. The total is (in calculation into pounds) �£210, which is cost price. I'm just about to e-mail the couple of members who have credit cards and said they would be willing to pay the amount up front and have the rest of us pay them back. I'm out on site at the moment and will post more details when I get back.

Agreed about the cost, it's great. When I looked into it, not thinking about the distinction between local and national newspapers, I stumbled across the Guardian's - much shock and trepidation:D

I'm always getting emails offering advertising in national broadsheets for reasonable last minute prices. This still works out cheaper though and is good value for money!

One small change we're going to make to the article text is thus:

 

So it was for tens of thousands of people associated with Rangers football club when we learned that our very special brother from Denmark was starting his fight against cancer.

 

We're going to change this slightly to "so it was for everyone associated with Rangers Football Club..."

Guys, when work calms down a bit I'll give you more details on what's been said in organising this. One passage it's worth quoting is this:

 

Please find attached your message to Brian Laudrup as laid out by one of our designers. It has been a source of much discussion here about colours, font, images etc, with our designer arguing (most likely rightly) that in this case simplicity really is best. He said given message and the reason behind it wouldn’t be right to add any flash to it.

 

I personally think it is lovely, as the message is wonderfully written, and very touching that it represents all the Rangers around the world.

 

Please let me know what you think though, and if you would like any changes made. Given the size, we weren’t able to include a Danish translation as that would have made the advert almost half a page, and the space wouldn’t have been available.

 

However, we will also have an article about Brian in our paper this week, so it will be very good timing to have your message in the same edition.

 

I'm also arranging independently to buy around 15 or so copies, so that I can send everyone who contributes their own copy. I asked if there was a way people could do this themselves, so it could be sent straight to them, but this is a bit of an organisational nightmare and not something they're set up to do. This'll be organised once we've paid them, though, and I'll get everyone's details at that point.
