Zappa 0
Surely we have enough money to offer kenny a deal as he is in his last year of his contract and has clearly stated he would be happy to stay!, but asking him to take a pay cut is forcing him out the door . We don't know if there's any truth to the story though mate! It's actually quite likely that he's being asked to take a pay cut if he wants a new deal, which is fair enough if that's what we need to do with our highest earners to be able to maintain a decent sized squad with limited finances, but I personally doubt very much that Miller is being asked to take a pay cut right now..... Two completely different things!
Guest Flying Hippo
I wonder if Jigsaw was asked to take a paycut before signing his new 'here til he's 35' deal?
Cotter 0
This could possibly be an ancient (a few months ago) story being resurrected in the face of a successful start to the season for both Kenny and the club. In terms of the here and now I smell shite. Timmy's to be precise.
CraigRFC 0
Miller will be on around £16-18K per week. Cheers, I don't see us asking him to take a pay cut then.
calscot 0
We will have repaid our regular £1m from our loan and the balance left after expenditure would have gone into our bank account reducing our overdraft. Plus the interest of course!
CraigRFC 0
Plus the interest of course! and according to the papers the interest is £100 million a year
Guest Flying Hippo
I can find it very believable that we've asked him to take a pay cut. We did the same with Novo when he was only 29. Offered him a 1 year deal on reduced wages before Bain relented and offered him 2 years on the same wages It's an utter joke though if we seriously expect one of our most important players, in the form of his life, to accept a pay cut
Super_Ally 0
Apparently we raked in £14 million in champions league money last season, just how much of that did the bank get hold of?? That's £14mil from Tv money, from playing in the groups and from our results. Doesn't take into account things like gate receipts, hospitality etc. It also wont account for any costs. Anyone have a better idea of the profit it will have generated?
Guest Flying Hippo
Newcastle United are hovering in the wings after Kenny Miller rejected a contract extension from Rangers. The Scotland striker has entered the final year of his deal and, like the rest of the players who have just one year to run, the Ibrox club have already opened up discussions in a bid to extend his contract. Rangers are desperate to tie Miller up on a longer deal to 2013, to avoid losing him for nothing at the end of the campaign in the same way Kris Boyd departed this summer when he joined Middlesbrough. Those plans, however, have suffered a major blow after the 30-year-old striker refused to take a pay cut to sign on again. And its understood English Premier League new boys Newcastle are monitoring the situation with a view to tabling an offer before the window closes next Tuesday. Miller netted 21 goals for Rangers last season to help the club win the SPL title, and has started the new campaign on fire with four goals in two games. Manager Walter Smith desperately wants to retain the services of one of his most important players, but the financial situation at the club makes it practically impossible for them to match the players current terms for a further two or three years. Although talks are ongoing, Miller is unlikely to back down as he knows he holds all the ace as his contract runs down. Smith, of course, is determined to keep the player but a serious bid from the St Jamess Park club would be difficult to turn down. Rangers have also offered a contract extension to goalkeeper Allan McGregor even although his current deal runs to 2013. Its understood he has been offered a five-year deal on the same terms to take him to 2015. Midfielder Lee McCulloch has already accepted a contract extension until 2013 on less money. Sasa Papac has also been offered a new deal as his contract expires at the end of the season but, again, no deal has been struck.
