Danny 0 Posted August 19, 2010 Share Posted August 19, 2010 Regarding the SPL I'm not so concerned - a 60 year Weir could still handle it. It's the CL where we got anally violated last season with Weir/McCulloch/Bougherra at the back. We have Weir, Bougherra, Webster - that's our lot for central defence. And while Bougherra and Webster doesn't fill me with dread, I cannot see Walter dropping Weir...well...ever really. And in the CL...put simply he can't handle that level any more, if he ever could. What is Walter going to deploy at the back in matches against Europe's finest? We might now be looking quite good in midfield and attack and but at the back we're hardly blessed with Ferdinand and Vidic. 0 Quote Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Frankie 8,843 Posted August 19, 2010 Share Posted August 19, 2010 Yeah, one of the toughest decisions for the manager will be to stick with Weir who has been a fine player since his return or opt for Webster who is untested at this level. Broadfoot and Papac can play central if needed (and in a dire emergency we have McCulloch!), Whitaker can play both FB positions and Bougherra can play right back. We also have more youngsters where Wilson came from - although I've no idea about the quality.
