Gribz 825
Miller and Jelavic for me also although Id be happy to see a front 3 with Lafferty added also. Will be very interesting to see the formation. Although isnt Ally a fan of 4-4-2 (we seemed to always play that in cups games he was in charge off). It could be he has a strong influence on the formation as he inherits this squad next summer.
craig 5,199
Miller Miller Miller Out Out Out Only kidding, but I dont see why signing this Jelavic guy means we will offload another striker, given that we have lost Boyd and Novo in the summer and only signed Beattie. Unless of course we give a contract to Welcome, and Jelavic signs (its not done yet) then we have more than last year and is a sure sign that one will be going (please Kenny). I suppose it all depends on wether Walter believes that Lafferty and Naismith can be classed as strikers. I dont know the last time I seen Naismith play centre forward, but I have seen him in midfield, and in wide positions, frequently last season, and while Lafferty has had rare chances to play CF, again he is mostly played elsewhere. If WS reckons they are not really strikers, he then only has Miller and Beattie then the young uns so will want another 2 in if he is to continue to play 4-4-2 in the SPL this season. I simply cannot understand how ANYONE would want Miller to leave before wanting Lafferty OR Velicka to leave. Unless you are classing Lafferty as not a striker. Miller has been far more productive - FAR more - than either of those two. Lafferty has talent but Miller has been a much better performer for us than he has. Velicka has had injury issues - but I am still not convinced he would have provided as much to our side as Miller has even if he were fit.
Danny 0
TB's been rather overenthusiastically promoting Miller's departure for ages. I can only assume he's trolling.

That along with the negativity on the signings Im beginning to think Dundee Utd were right in charging him 12 quid for the rearranged fixture last year :fish:
Super_Ally 0
I dont see what Miller provides that makes him so irreplaceable? Would prefer he stayed ahead of Lafferty for example, but we've lost far more important, far higher quality players and not suffered. I'm not saying I want him to go. There are many in the queue ahead of him if, big if, someone has to go. But I wont be keeking my breeks if he does.

He's obviously not irreplaceable but he was one of THE most important players in the team last season, and if he went, he would be a huge loss. I'm interested to know what more important players we have lost and not suffered?
Frankie 8,529
Miller's pace and industry makes him the perfect foil for a poacher type player - which is why Boyd did so well out of their partnership as well. I'm sure the likes of Beattie and Jelavic will enjoy playing with him. To be fair though, Jelavic isn't a poacher either so I'm hoping for a Prso/Novo type partnership between Miller and Jelavic. They may not always get the goals but they should be full of running, be able to retain possession and bring others into the game. They should provide a bit more pace and mobility into our attack. Weiss and Davis doing the creative work from deep.

craig 5,199
So you wouldnt be keeking your breeks if he goes. So we have lost Boyd's 25-30 goals a season and you wouldnt be overly concerned if we lost Miller's 21 from last season..... to be replaced by someone who hasnt proven it in the SPL. Makes NO sense to me whatsoever. Some have been very vocal that we shouldnt have lost Boyd - yet dont care if we lose Miller. When you add Miller's 21 last season to his overall play he was a more important player for us than Boyd - by a fair bit. I didnt want us to lose Boyd - but now that we have, I certainly dont want us to lose the only other goalscorer who has proven it for us in the SPL.

True dat After the Dundee United 7-1 game, Boyd was woeful for the rest of the season. Miller was by far our most important attacking player last season, no one could seriously claim otherwise
