Guest Northampton_loyalist
As i said in another post, it was only a year ago that Beattie was being heralded as the man who single handedly kept Stoke in the Premiership. The myth that he's been finished for years now is indeed that, a myth correct. He would be a poor signing because of his age and fee. He would be a good signing because of his ability. Unfortunately in our position the latter is more important.
Super_Ally 0
Just a little clarity for those who think that Beattie has been washed up for years 07/08 season - 22 goals in 41 games 08/09 season - 19 goals in 40 games 09/10 season - 2 goals in 24 games He's had one bad season after two very good ones. He isn't finished. Didn't know that so thanks for the research. Makes me a little more confident about the signing. However I could see him being like a worse version of Boyd in that all he'll do is score goals (however a few less) whilst being more of a target man who can use his strength and aerial power.

The guy has consistently (until last season) Scored goals in a league (well, two leagues) that pisses all over the SPL. Boyd never turned up for the big games, be that Europe or the scum and barely performed against the top 6 in this country. Beattie, if he signs, will score goals against pretty much everyone we face. He might not rattle a load against St. Mirren but he will be a better player

I'm just not totally convinced by this and even in spite of FH's stats still believe he is past his best.
bmck 117
He does seem largely past it. Wrong side of 30, wrong kind of signing. I was actually taken in by our supposed mid 20s targets at the start of the summer. I don't doubt they'll do a job, just nothing to get excited over
wabashcannonball 0
Beattie can have until the heavy pitches appear, then we will see how well his "knee" holds up.
metlika 0
So are we expecting one to play in defence and the other in midfield if Jelavic signs? I thought we were going after a defender, midfielder and a striker but we have only went for strikers...
