Rangers have renewed their interest in Portsmouth striker Tommy Smith as they step up a recruitment drive before the SPL kick-off. The Ibrox club had a reported �£300,000 bid rejected by the Pompey administrator in June, but Walter Smith remains a fan of the 30-year-old and there has now been fresh contact between the clubs.

 

It is understood Tommy Smith would not be an alternative to Nikica Jelavic, and the club are also targeting USA striker Robbie Findlay. (Daily Mail)

Fitba has been played through and roundabout the middle since Alf Ramsey ditched wingers.......only some nations were slow to catch on, at that time, when we humped them or rather Baxter humped them, we took the simple option we just played fitba........and the englunders right aff the park..........halcyon days and I was lucky enough to see them....

I just wonder (not Stevie, but curiousity) whether the 1.5 million is what we are actually going to pay for him. We offered 300k and Pompey said it was derisory - Andronikou (or however it is spelt) said Smith was worth 1.5 mill. As we all know the rags can simply make figures up.

 

Hopefully they are just assuming we agreed to meet Pompey's valuation - and that their assumption is wrong.
