Newcastle Friendly

I thought Naismith had a good game and showed he is best through the middle,IMO. Whittaker was excellent yesterday and was just about our MOTM,IMO,if he can have as good a season as he did last season,or even better it then he will be a BIG player for us.He still looks better on the left though,IMO.

If he can stay fit and play every week, preferably through the middle, Naismith will do well and get goals for us. He needs the confidence of his manager to give him the run to get his consistency.

the one thing that stood out against newcastle was the exclusion of the long ball from our tactics. we took the game to newcastle when we had the ball and played as a unit. And guess what? we played well and won! So thats that arguement shot down in flames!

I am delighted to see Rangers showing a bit of form albeit a preseason friendly but it does bode well for all concerned as we actually showed a touch of class, especially were the goals were concerned. There was the guile and inventiveness that we have all craved over the last couple of seasons and hopefully this will be the norm for the forthcomming season.

If we can maintain this show of form and standard of play then the future may not be as bleak as we fear right now.

I'm not quite sure how you were viewing the game, and although there was a lack of long ball from us, we lacked possession and didn't use the ball too well, especially in the first half. Picked up in the second though and was much better.

Much as though I hope you are right I recall having the exact same reaction to last season's pre-season games. We played some excellent stuff against Man City at Ibrox and performed well in other games - but when we got down to the business end we reverted to type.....

Hope you are right though.

Was about to say the same thing, we have done this i a few pre seasons recently then as soon as the season starts the cautiousness comes back into our game. I said a week or 2 ago if we go into the season playing free flow football like the Blackburn game then we could hump SPL teams every week.

Pre-season games are all about match fitness, the results are irrelevent,IMO, although it's always nice to win.Why do so many fans look too much into these games??, they bare no relevance to the coming season!!!. We have won the title for the last two seasons and going into the new season as CHAMPIONS again looking to make it 3 in a row.
