Danny 0
Kyle has shown in patches that he can score. In fact his scoring record was far better than Boyd's at the end of the season, where the latter's form deteriorated into a total shambles. Kyle's scored simple goals and great goals, and while among our fans he will always be an acquired taste, he's never hid and has always worked hard wherever he's played. Even our own assistant manager Ally McCoist has publicly admitted we've been unfair on him playing him out on the left wing a lot - played up front is his strength and he's generally done well there. I'm not going to sit here and claim he will replace Boyd's goals, goal for goal, but Boyd's dire form while we still won the title shows that it's not strictly necessary to do so.

Laffertys form for us for a chunk of last season was a total shambles. Ok he scored some goals but he's a striker, that's what he's paid to do. Evebn being played as a left winger he should still have contributed more goals to the team not to mention better performances too.
bmck 117
I think one of the things in the Lafferty Boyd debate is that when Lafferty plays poorly he is an utter shambles, and it really can take any momentum out the team, whereas Boyd is (was) just anonymous. Of course, the flip side of this is that where Lafferty was a nightmare it was through trying things that were unusual - like running at players - something Boyd wouldn't do. There were enough glimpses to say that Lafferty's got-something, but it would take a lot of revision to call last season anything but failure for him. He's still a young player, and so consistency will naturally come for him - if he can scale up to his potential he should have a good year.
Guest cptnairac
Think big laf will get goals when the new season starts . if boydy goes this may spur him on to get a bit more out his tank that ran empty .
Danny 0
Laffertys form for us for a chunk of last season was a total shambles. Usually while being played out of position though. You wouldn't expect Boyd to excel there, so why should Lafferty?

You wouldn't expect Boyd to excel there, so why should Lafferty? Why buy someone for mega bucks and play them out of position, isn't that the Basile Boli question, a world class sweeper.........how many games has this "striker" Lafferty actually started as striker in his career, no surprise there then. :robbo:

Danny 0
Because Lafferty has previous for playing left winger with Burnley. Just like Lovenkrands had previous playing there for us then doing so for Newcastle and Schalke. Never made him any good at it
