bollocks. boyd was out injured just after the dundee utd game (7-1) and he got a few games in as centre forward and he did F all. .

He didn't partner Miller once in this spell

As i say, when they pair have played together for a few months and failed, i'll admit i was wrong

I think Lafferty does have a bit of talent but there has been 2 things holding him back (apart from injuries). 1) is playing as a winger and 2) his attitude.

Reading that article, I didnt realise he was still only 22, I thought a few years older than that, so hopefully this season he is a year more mature.

If he gets a run upfront with Miller I think they will score plenty.

Agreed, Lafferty at least deserves a chance, and maybe he will come good, he is certainly young enough to improve his game, and attitude.

You almost get the feeling from some people (mainly on FF) that they almost want Lafferty to fail because they've already made up their minds about him and don't want to look like fools

My prediction is 20 goals from the big guy this season

Guy really is quite mercurial though.

I remember his performance against Hearts season before last where he was taken off at half-time injured. It was probably one of the best displays I've seen from a striker since Hateley; pace, strength, aggression, commitment and he also took his goal brilliantly.

If he can find that level he'll be some player. However, if he gets stuck in mediocrity and continual injuries, then he may find it difficult to shake off what is often unreasonable expectation of some fans.

20 goals is certainly possible (and the same from Miller would also help) but far from a certainty.

I just find it strange to see people saying things like 'the guy's a diddy and always will be' when he ended the season in good form. Actual good form, not Steven Naismith 'good form'

Now is the time to be backing him more than ever with Boyd going and after his reasonably impressive end to the season

.

This is where I think having the extra year last season will mature him. Once he shakes off a few doubters and shakes off the sillyness of rash tackles etc I think he will come good. He has all the ingredients of pace, strength etc and he can finish!

Must play through the middle though or he wont progress IMO. If anything playing wide will make him more frustrated.

Now's the time for Lafferty to prove his worth. Two things need to happen (i) get a good start to the season and keep his confidence up (ii) hope his role as whipping boy for the mhedia can be overturned.

He needs a fresh start.

Another problem with Lafferty is his attitude. He seems to think he's some superstar, some sort of world class player the way he goes on in his nauseating interviews in the media.

To me, he's still been a massive waste of money.
