His agent is claiming that McGregor possibly feels like he has achieved all he can achieve at Rangers. If that's his attitude he can gtf frankly. Makes me sick seeing the likes of McGregor and Boyd saying this. In terms of Rangers history, they are two nobodies

.

Calling them 'nobodies' is a bit harsh. It's difficult to appreciate that players might want to move on and try something new, but that's no reason to be nasty to them after they've served the club for quite a few years.

Goram, Klos, McCoist, Hateley didn't feel like they needed a new challenge after winning 2 titles. Compared to those 4, McGregor and Boyd are nobodies in my eyes

But you werent comparing them to "those 4" - you were suggesting that they were nobodies in "Rangers history" - a completely different argument.

McGregor, no matter what you might think, has served us well. He has been instrumental in those two title wins and saved us a plethora of points. Far from being the worst keeper we have ever had and certainly not a "nobody" in Rangers history.

Boyd, regardless of how you feel he is as a player, simply cannot be construed a nobody in Rangers history by ANY Gers fan. FFS, he is the SPL's top scorer, reaching 100 goals in a Gers top in an incredibly short space of time. Likewise, his goals were instrumental in winning those back to back titles too.

We have won 53 titles in our 137 year history. McGregor and Boyd have contributed handsomely to 2 of those (almost 4%). Not too shabby.

Certainly enough to not be called nobodies. Obviously your prerogative to have that opinion but one I couldn't share. I would like to think the vast majority wouldn't share it either.

If McGregor and Boyd both leave Rangers this summer, will people still be talking about them in 20 years time? No chance imo. McGregor would be immediately forgotten given that his 3 predecessors were all better goalkeepers. Boyd would go on to be remembered as the great goalscorer who couldn't hit a barn door against Celtic.

No, one of them wants to leave the club i love because he's bored of playing for it, and the other has allegedly said the same thing

None of the above would prove they were nobodies.

We may have different criteria but IMO ANY player who contributes a reasonable amount to a title success would NOT be a nobody. To have done it twice.... and certainly more than a "reasonable amount"..... no way you could consider them nobodies in our history.

Obviously 'nobodies' was an emotionally-charged remark but i shall reiterate my belief that in the grand scheme of Rangers football club, Kris Boyd and especially Allan McGregor are minor pawns

Are either of them amongst the 100 best players to play for Rangers? No chance

100 most influential? Boyd might get in around the 70 or 80 mark, McGregor not a chance

The idea of two such average players, in terms of our history, feeling that they've outgrown Rangers and are bored of playing for them is disgusting and disturbing in equal measure. This token remark of "achieved all they can achieve at Rangers" because they've won 2 league titles is especially galling given that 9 in a row only ended 13 years ago. How many of our 9 in a row team quit after 2 years because they'd achieved all they could?

I can sympathise with the Hippo's opinion actually.

It is disappointing when, having grown up with the relative luxuries and excesses of the 1990s, two players who may not have figured in those days are suddenly moving on for sums of money even Gascoigne couldn't command then.

In saying that, McGregor and Boyd have been crucial to our relative success in the last few years so it's a bit disrespectful to suggest they're not as important as their predecessors.

They'll move on with my thanks but when players are moving to less than glamorous teams it does leave a bad taste in the mouth to a degree.

Seems to be the way of the modern day footballer. Win a couple of trophies with a club and it's time to move on. The spoilt modern day child, perhaps. Gets bored too quickly. Ryan Giggs is about to enter his 20th season as a first pick in the Man Utd team. Something like that just makes me seeth at McGregor's agent's remarks
