we were supposed to be signing an under 21 danish international at the january transfer window for a million euros. snmith was banging on that that the deal was pulled from under him by muir at the time, i wonder why the deal hasnt been reserected.

We were also supposedly signing Obertan on loan from Man Utd until Muir pulled that one at the last minute too

As Gribz says I would rather have Velicka than most of the names mentioned elsewhere about possible signings. Hopefully we will pull a rabbit from the hat so to speak. I wish we would hurry up! I hate how it always seems we leave things til the last minute in any transfer window. I suppose the last few we heaven't needed to bother!

Serious ? The window hasnt even technically opened yet

.

After that announcement I watched a ruck of videos of games that guy played in and he really didn't look like anything special.

There is plenty time to sign someone, I wouldnt want the club to sign someone for the sake of it, lets see what comes of the WC first.

But to have Miller, Lafferty, Velicka, Fleck and Naismith (although I dont rate him one bit) available upfront at the moment says to me that strikers is not our weakest department. We have 3 central defenders (Bougherra, Broadfoot and Wilson) who could all leave so id be more concerned at the back. S Smith has already gone and if Papac covers at centre half we need a LB.

That's it for me Gribz, you have to think that if any of those guys listed, even Naismith ;), get decent chances in the SPL, they'll take a fairly high percentage of them. So you then need to turn our attention to making those chances and stopping the other side getting chances.

In Walter we trust, but he has been guilty in the past of seemingly over-looking areas that need to be strengthened. Possibly the lack of funds will help focus his attention this time!

I think, despite the hard time Velicka gets from many on here and elsewhere, that he is more than capable of sufficing for SPL standards. In the run in the season before last he got 4 goals in 8 appearances, and his record for Hearts, an inferior team to us, was none too shabby either.

I'm not saying he's good enough for the CL, but hey, neither was Boyd. We do need a quality signing for that level, although as I've said before a front 3 of Naismith, Lafferty and Miller wouldn't be the worst solution there.
