Good luck to him,it is a good move for him and could be just what he needs. He has been very unlucky with injuries, no doubt when he first broke into the Rangers first team he did look a better prospect than Hutton, the difference is Hutton upped his game and improved immensely, but one thing is for sure Smith is a far better crosser of the ball than Hutton and can hit a great dead ball, which Hutton can't. The guy has a fantastic attitude to the game and I for one hope he goes on to have a great career @ Norwich.

I remember seeing Smith scoring in this game and being MOTM. This was shortly before he sadly got injured and was never the same. I disagree he was a 6 or 7 man and I thought he was going to go on and be a great left back for club and country. He was attacking and excting as Hutton was on this showing and other games before.

I wish him all the best at Norwich........

I agree with Johnny. When Smith first broke into the team he was a very useful player and most bears were excited about his future. Sure, since his injury he's failed to regain that kind of form/potential but it wouldn't surprise me to see him to an Adam and increase his reputation down South.

I enjoyed his quotes today about recent developments - very honest and he seems like a player determined to prove his worth rather than make money from guising like some modern players...

New Norwich City signing Stevie Smith says he rejected a late offer to stay with Rangers.

Smith ended his six year love-affair with Gers yesterday when he agreed a two-year deal with Canaries boss Paul Lambert.

Full-back Smith revealed the SPL champs came up with a last-gasp offer in a bid to prevent him quitting for Carrow Road.

After seeing injury wreck his chances of making an impact under Walter Smith, the 25-year-old admitted leaving Ibrox was the only way to kick-start his career.

Smith said: "Staying at Rangers was never a factor for me. Rangers actually came back in and offered me a new deal on more money than Norwich were offering.

"It was never about the cash though, because I had to go and progress my career.

"I could have stayed on at Rangers for another year and played maybe 15 games. That would have been pointless though because even when I was playing, I didn't do myself any favours.

"I never played more than five or six games in a row in my own position.

"The fans wanted to see me play the way I did before I was injured, but that was unrealistic.

"I couldn't get the consistency because I wasn't getting a run. When I came in I at least tried to do a job and I did that."
