Would be pretty pointless having both if Bougie is staying. I would happily swap Webster for Goodwillie so long as no more than �£500,000 went to Dundee United, on the assumption that Webster would be replaced by Goncalves

We have 4 and half days until the season starts and we are waiting on Jelavic's decision. If that doesnt go through then I cant see a new face arriving. Welcome would need a work permit and I dont fancy giving Utd cash plus Webster for Oorwillie.

Didn't Goncalves say he wouldn't be signing for us. Failed to agree personal terms i.e. we wouldn't meet his no doubt exhorbitant salary demands.

I don't think we do. We've a 40 year old, an Algerian who struggled badly with injury and finding his passport, a converted striker/left midfielder/midfield enforcer and Webster. Broadfoot and papac can both fill in, yes, butboth arepreferred at full back. Other than the wandering Algerian, Webster is, in my opinion the best of that lot, by some distance. It's not just about havingthe numbers to fill the shirts, it's about having the best players in their best positions. You say we have plentyplayers that can play at centre half, we need players that can play well there.

Mike, that reply got a bit wandered. What I'm trying to say is I think we should keep Webster, I think he's going to be an important player this year, but I don't have much faith in the back up. I think goncalves would be a good signing. He could also provide backup for papac at left back.

Rangers will tonight give a trial to Arsenal reserve Nacer Barazite in Belfast when they take on Glentoran in a glamour friendly at the Oval.

 

And Light Blues coach Ian Durrant, who will bring the squad this side of the Irish Sea says the club have been tipped off as to the talents of the Dutch winger from an unlikely source.

 

One-time boss of Old Firm rivals Celtic, Liam Brady who is now head of the Gunners� academy has given a glowing recommendation to Gers and they will run their eye over the 21-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Derby County, at the home of the Glens.

 

The Rangers team will ultimately have an unfamiliar look to it, with many of the star turns on international duty, but as Durrant explains, it will be full of players who will be involved in first XI action at some stage this season, as the cash-stricken Glaswegians are forced to put more of an emphasis on youth than they have had to for some time.
