Rangers Tracking Jim O'Brien of Motherwell

What did we all think when Neil McCann signed? Good enough or Not?

All these guys (not to many on here recently) who baulk at signing SPL players, I guess they wouldn't have signed Goram, Ferguson and Brown either? Whilst Scottish football may be of a lower standard now we have always (in recent memory) cherry picked the cream of the SPL (or equivalent league) and will continue to do so. It is what the top teams in most countries tend to do actually.

In our current financial predicament I imagine this will form a greater part of our strategy going forward.

No interest in their socio-political-familial views: if they make us better, or thinking about next year, keep us afloat, that's all I care about. I can't say any of these bullshit links fill me with joy, but that's got nothing to do with outdated nonsense which we quite right berate the likes of McGeady for.

Totally agree as long as he would play his best for Rangers and be totally professional i would be happy to leave those prehistoric values behind us.

I couldn't care less, the SPL quality has gone downhill fast the Goram's, Fergsuon's , etc. were a lot better than the current SPL talent. I have no problem with religion if they add something to the squad but I have a problem with a player that has been linked with the likes of Aberdeen.

I appreciate cherry picking the cream of the SPL would be less expensive but what about The Championship. How much would we expect to pay for guys like Gary Hooper (Scunthorpe), Gylfi Sigurosson (Reading) and Billy Sharp (Doncaster).

Could we even compete in a salary sense with the championship ? The championship is a far richer league than the SPL ?

Here's the article - http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/163676000-the-average-salary-of-a-premiership-footballer-in-2006-473659.html

Championship clubs are also likely to have an enforced cap on their salaries next season the same as what was done in League one and two a few years back, whereby clubs are prevented from spending more than 75% of their income on all club wages.

That's something I'd like to see implemented on a wider scale.
