Boyd hasn't signed anything

I think that's harsh again. His overall game play was massively improved in the early half of the season and when allied with his predatory instincts elevated him above average. He's been pretty mince since his injury though.

 

I don't really agree his overall play improved significantly in the preceding months. Marginally, yes, but massively? He was on fire in December, and full credit to him for such a great period of form.

 

But we do agree he's been dreadful this calender year.

Boydie's brothers both work with my pal, who is a season ticket holder. They are a close-knit family with Kris and his mrs being quite settled in a house in Ayr, with his kids settled at school.

One of his brothers is moving to Oz this summer which has upset his mother, which means that it would be a massive move to have to leave Rangers and his family in Ayr.

I thought myself that he would leave in the summer and may still do, but the chances are getting better that he will stay, the reasons are not all football related.

The best bit is that his sister has a cleaning business around Tarbolton/Mauchline. She cleans my mate's house (who is a killie fan).

I quite often get a text from the wee t*t saying that he has just left a skidmark on his bog pan for her to clean or that she has....... "just been rifling through my underwear."

 

All in good banter, i live in hope that relegation beckons for Killie tho!!

Rangers wait on contract answers from three

Walter Smith is expecting an answer from Kris Boyd, Nacho Novo and Kirk Broadfoot within the next seven days over their respective Rangers futures. The out-of-contract trio have all been offered new deals to stay at Ibrox but are all yet to confirm to the club what their intentions are.

 

Boyd in particular has offers from elsewhere should he decide to move on from the SPL champions, with Birmingham City known bidders for his services. The league's all-time top goalscorer has previously said he is waiting on his club to secure manager Smith on new terms before committing himself to any new contract.

 

Smith is scheduled to meet with chief executive Martin Bain next Saturday to thrash out his future and now wants the three players he wants to retain to follow suit and sign up for a shot at next season's Champions League group stages.

 

ââ?¬Å?At this stage of the season you have to plan for the following year,ââ?¬Â Smith told Rangers' official website. ââ?¬Å?What I've been trying to point out is the biggest problem is knowing where we're going to stand. If we're going two seasons without buying players and the squad is dropping in size all the time, you eventually have to enhance that and we've reached that stage.

 

ââ?¬Å?From the point of view of the players who are out of contract, we have to know exactly what the situation is and I'd hope we'll have a fair idea of what we can do in respect of them in the next week.

 

ââ?¬Å?The situation at the moment is that three of them - Boyd, Novo and Broadfoot - have been made offers and hopefully we'll get back in touch with their agents in the next week to see where we stand.

Smith also repeated his calls for the club's future to be resolved, with no progress on securing a buyer to inherit a near-�£30 million debt. Concerned that his squad is dwindling, the manager says it is imperative he knows one way or the other what the situation will be for next season, so he can try and attract players to bolster his pool.

 

ââ?¬Å?We need to know exactly where we stand and I keep telling everybody that,ââ?¬Â Smith continued. ââ?¬Å?I'm not saying we have to have this scenario or that scenario but there's no point in aiming to bring in a specific level of player then a fortnight later we get a buyer who wants to invest a level of money.

 

ââ?¬Å?It's essential that this conjecture surrounding the club comes to an end, whether it's a case of the club getting a buyer, whether it's the banks in control, a supporters buy-out or whatever else there is.

 

ââ?¬Å?The squad definitely needs to be refreshed because we have players out of contract. Some of them will leave and we'll have to get others in. That's a natural process. We've probably got the lowest squad level in terms of numbers that Rangers have ever had.ââ?¬Â

 

David Weir, DaMarcus Beasley and Steven Smith are also free to leave in the summer with their contracts coming to an end. But only Smith, who has struggled to break into this team this season because of the continued form of Sasa Papac, has said his future will lie elsewhere.
