Frankie 8,529
I read it same as you Frankie on the big site, good excuse for missing the Wednesday 12 o'clock fabled announcement (said to have been coming from Ellis), being deid like..... So you're happy to pass on daft rumours from elsewhere but not take N_L's albeit less exciting information in the good faith it is offered? Now, N_L has showed us his hand, why don't you tell us why Ellis is a non-starter? I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'm genuinely interested in why you're so confident.
OnlyOneAmoruso 0
Not been able to post regularly for a few weeks. Aren't tax year ends fun? Anyway, as Bluedell says, this information is too boring not to be true imo I'll say one thing for wabash, if he could offer a decent counter argument it might be a fairly worthwhile exercise. Much more worthwhile than the 200 'well done mates' I've seen elsewhere

As you will note Frankie, I qualified Sheik as alleged, some people have been watching wall street to often, clubs like Rangers, as I stated previously do not get bandied about in text and phone messages alleged to have come from a principal, if you think it does happen that way, feel free, I repeat, it is bollox and an insult to peoples intelligence.
Frankie 8,529
You have to work at work? :fish: PS: Still waiting on your match preview from the other week.

What would N_L have to gain from making this up? I also know for a fact such 'principals' monitor forums such as these and would quickly and strongly request any erroneous information be removed. Why do you think Ellis is a non-starter?

Ooops, sorry, been mad busy! Had to pass up the chance to meet NL in person as well. Not sure which situation hurt me most :box:
Bluedell 5,599
Murray put in his £50 million, the trouble is that you probably believe that. You call about 1% of the offer being taken up by fans a success and the rest being absorbed into MIH by the Mints magical creativity, there is hope for Alistair Darling yet, not much mind you. Whether Murray or MIH put it in is irrelevant. Rangers got the cash. The rights issue never was about the fans putting in cash, or else it would have been marketed more and not offered at a premium of over 30% (if my memory serves me correctly). It was purely a technique for Murray to reduce the debts that HE had created, and any extra cash was a bonus. But why miss an opportunity to have a dig at the Rangers fans?
calscot 0
I agree it’s hard to believe that a random interested party can become privy to the private goings on in the business of the protagonist in a company takeover bid, for the express purpose of publishing the information on a public forum when the usual media sources seem to be in the dark. However, I think it’s best to delay any judgement of the information until it is proven correct or false. The risk is that if he’s telling the truth, calling him disingenuous may only be biting the hand that feeds you, and we could be insulting a guy who is only sharing with us, stuff that we want to know. Not only that, calling someone out too early, can make yourself look very foolish if you are wrong. I can see no intended malice in the posts, and he is self aware of how things could sound, and as the content is in no way outlandish, we can afford to take it at face value. Of course, a good seasoning of salt wouldn’t go amiss since although the details of what was said could be 100% truthful, there is no guarantee that Ellis himself is being completely upfront with the truth. I think we should welcome the info from N_L and see how it pans out; it at least has entertainment value and stimulates discussion. If it turns out to be bullshit or a wind-up, N_L’s reputation will be forever tarnished and as he knows that, it makes me believe him all the more. The information may not be the juiciest but it does indicate that Ellis is still on the scene – why he’s prevaricating to the media is anyone’s guess. He’s also taking his time which suggests he’s playing the long game with a poker strategy – or maybe he needs more background investigations about possible development plans that would need to be sanctioned by the council.
craig 5,199
Why do you think Ellis is a non-starter? Dont hold your breath on a proper response Frankie. As has been noted far too many times.... wabash is a hit and run poster, trying to throw enough shit for some of it to hopefully stick. Now, I am not for a minute suggesting Ellis is a proper contender for purchasing us but what IS known is that he has at least enquired so therefore is/was interested. When you look at the sequence of events in this thread it is somewhat amusing. 1. N_L posts info that he allegedly (personally I believe him - after all, he is from Northampton, Ellis once owned Northampton - so there is at least some small element of a common thread there, even if minute) received from Ellis 2. Wabash criticises it as bullshit 3. Wabashh says Ellis is a non-starter, offering absolutely NO credibe source as his reasoning. 4. Frankie, myself, others, ask for his source or reasoning as to why Ellis is a non-starter and his response is..... ohhh, we are still waiting - wonder why that is ??? Wabash, it would at least be helpful to the other members of the forum if you actually entered the debate in the spirit of the forum. Whilst no-one necessarily expects you to have a source for all your suggestions we do at least expect an explanation of why you make them, even if it is personal opinion (something other than "Ellis is a non-starter, so there" type post would be helpful). N_L, thanks for the info. I happen to believe you because you have, it would seem, absolutely NOTHING to gain by bullshitting the fans of the same club you support. Ellis may, or may not, be telling you the truth but rom your perspective, and ours, you are only passing on the info you are receiving - and whether or not that is the truth, thanks for that. One small thing I noticed in the text you posted from Ellis - and I know that you didnt type it verbatim, is that a couple of times you mentin that Ellis used the term "we" - any feeling as to whether that meant "we" as in his team of advisors or whether it meant "we" as in he has other investors behind him ?
