Off the phone again.

Again, sent a text basically asking if there was any chance of a wee update, if they were still interested and if he could put a time frame on the deal being completed if it was likely it would. I added in 'Appologies for texting rather than phoning again, I simply did not want to disturb you more than this has already nor put you in any awkward situation' because I realize that texting is a pretty shitty way to contact someone but i genuinely wanted to maximise the chance of a reply and minimize pissing him off.

Last time I texted a simple question when the rumours of the deal being dead were coming out of shellick sites and he simply replied with a few words. this time I figured I had maybe pushed my luck one too often as it took a good long while to get a reply. He eventually phoned up, which ws a surprise but welcome.

What he said is encouraging again, basically that everything looks good (im guessing books, DD wise) and they are working towards closing the deal. He did not want to put a time frame on it as he does not want to be held to it should things go a little more slowly. He is aware of places like these but not through coming on himself and he said 'I can understand the worry but I dont know where some of the stories are coming from. having a property developer buy your club is like inviting the undertaker round for tea, but we are NOT looking at moving the club or developing Ibrox, well, possibly outside the ground but that is what any new owner should be looking at and with the best interests of the club at heart. Rangers are one of the most famous clubs in the world and with all that herritage you cant just rip it up. We are looking to nurture the club and get things back on track. When a deal is done i will be looking to sit with people (the fans) and discuss things, there are no skeletons in the closet and we have nothing to hide. We know there is a lot we need to learn too.'

Now, that is all in quotations butit is not his exact words, just as close to word perfect as i can remember and the thrust of it all is 100%.

Again, i cant back up anything he says, cant really do anything more than say what i felt. He has 3 times now answered calls/texts from a guy he doesnt know. Firstly that means that he wont be giving up any secrets and as I have no relationship with him, will maybe feel able to twist or manaipulate what is said but secondly, it could be seen to show a willingness to share what he can with a fan who went to the effort of stalking him . I was struck with how he came across the first time and again today, very very down to earth and friendly.

Obviously some will doubt the truth of this, and that is fine but seeing as he said he would give me an interview (i chanced my luck and he seemed happy to do it) if he buys the club i hope to be able to prove you wrong if that comes to pass.

Any press looking in, get your own quotes from the man, god-damned leaches.

thanks for the updates NL, and keep pestering!!

Nobody is sure if this guy will be good for us or not, but what is clear is that the status quo is not good for us.

Have you at any time asked him, or got an inclination about, about the chances of his deal involving Murray retaining a significant shareholding? That is the one rumour that worries the hell out of me!!

Noproblem chilledbear.

I didnt ask specifics at all and I doubt he would answer them tbh. If he does sit with me after/if a deal is done it will certainly be a question I ask him.

Appreciate the update NL. A fine job you are doing and hopefully Ellis is the real deal and has the necessary funds to turn us around. It would be great if the deal could also involve the supporters investing and gaining a say in the running of the club.

I can imagine if the offer is minimal then SDM will want to hold on to a proportion of his shares.

I can't see someone investing about £80M in shares to sell them all for say £8M - or £1.

I could see a scenario of him keep say, 25% of the club, which gives the new owners control, but which allows him to cash in his remaining shares at a later date when the club is stable, debt free and someone else wants to join the table.

.

He could sell a controlling share of the club and still retain far more than 25%, or am I missing something with regards to the size of his shareholding? I thought it was about 91-92%?

Ah think you're pulling our chuggers NL, a novel way of conducting the purchase of the greatest club in the world leaks to a messageboard by text....don't think so...but FF has previous.....

.

NL said Ellis responded with a phone call, not a text message.

That is your perogative. I did offer MF, Frankie and yourself the chance to come and sit in next time i spoke to him. Still, I guess it is easier to sit behind your computer and nay-say rather than become enlightened.

I mean, think about it. I play 5's, 7's twice a week and 11's once a week with guys off the internet, I have hundereds of personal aquaintances, I speak to people like Frankie occasionally, I get work from FF. Why the hell would I risk being outed as a liar and lose all that for the above? I HAVE my wee picture next to my name on FF, I am a well known poster there, I have have attention from the regular articles published. If it was an 'FF' thing, why post it here and on RM where I know it is going to be rubbished?

Remember the last time this came up?

Herald, deal off.

Me, deal on.

Herald, actually, maybe the deal is still on.

3 weeks later, deal still on.

As it clearly says, if the deal goes through, I get an interview. Maybe the guy was impressed I got his number and kept it to myself? maybe he saw the piece written about the first chat and thought I was maybe a good way to answer some of the media stuff annonymously? maybe I have a kick ass telephone manner? Nope, I'm an attention seeking liar who is too thick to work out just how easily this could all be shown as the lies it is. I mean, a journo is unlikely to ask at his first press conferance 'so, a guy off the intenet claims he spoke to you and leaked info, is that true?'.

Anyway, if the deal comes through and I get that interview, i do so hope you are as quick to appologise ;)
