Tony Mowbray has vowed to ignore speculation that his time as Celtic manager is over in the wake of last nights 4-0 humiliation against St Mirren.

The manager is not running away from the fight, nor his responsibility for a defeat which extinguished any hope that his team could catch Rangers in the title run-in.

Mowbray accepts losing so heavily is completely unacceptable, and that questions will now asked about his future in the job.

Within minutes of the final whistle at New St Mirren Park, he was asked outright if he was concerned about his position, but responded that he did not think it was an appropriate time to discuss the matter.

He does understand however, that, even if he does not wish to debate the point, many others will.

He said: ââ?¬Å?Iââ?¬â?¢m not interested in those sort of headlines. People write them, people want to talk on radio stations about them.

ââ?¬Å?I canââ?¬â?¢t affect that. I canââ?¬â?¢t do anything about that. I can just try and prepare my team and try to be positive.

ââ?¬Å?Of course a big negative comes out of last night, but thatââ?¬â?¢s football and you have to accept it sometimes.

ââ?¬Å?What will be will be.ââ?¬Â

Celtic face Kilmarnock at home on Saturday when they will be under more scrutiny than ever before as a result of last nights capitulation.

Mowbray said: ââ?¬Å?Of course we will bounce back. We have Kilmarnock at the weekend and it is a game again where we have to go and be positive and force the play, which is what we do.

ââ?¬Å?We know it will be tough because the supporters will be anxious. They will be waiting for every bad pass.

ââ?¬Å?But we have got to do what we do, be brave and go and play.ââ?¬Â

However, Mowbray does not accept his side need to turn things around because, up until the defeat to Saints, they had been going in the right direction with three straight wins.

ââ?¬Å?Everyone was talking before this game about three clean sheets on the bounce, winning games 2-0, 3-0, and 3-0,ââ?¬Â he said.

ââ?¬Å?What needs turning around? Iââ?¬â?¢ve explained to many people the reasons why we lost four goals last night, chasing the match and making the substitutions that we did.

ââ?¬Å?I have to take responsibility for that, and will do no problem.ââ?¬Â

The hurt was clear on his face and in his voice as he discussed the ramifications of the clubs worst result since they lost 5-0 to Artmedia Bratislava in Gordon Strachans first game in charge back in 2005.

But he was not prepared to admit he was at the lowest point of his time as Celtic manager.

ââ?¬Å?I understand the reasons why it didnââ?¬â?¢t work out last night,ââ?¬Â he said. ââ?¬Å?And yet, 4-0 away to St Mirren is unacceptable, and I understand that, too.

ââ?¬Å?Itââ?¬â?¢s unacceptable to everybody, to me, to the players, to the supporters. If I didnââ?¬â?¢t have the reasons in my mind why it happened, then I would be more concerned and worried about it.ââ?¬Â
