Well done Naisy!!!

Agreed, Zappa...

I'd fancy a start for him on Wednesday now. :)

I'd be for that. Play Beasley too because some of the other guys will be knackered after yesterday. Time to try something different up top too I think. Although Miller scored the winner yesterday both him and Boyd have struggled lately. Maybe Naisy up front?

One assist doesn't make it conclusive proof that he actually is good enough for Rangers/has been a good signing afterall, though we'd obviously benefit from a confident Naismith, something i don't believe we've seen since his Kilmarnock days. If Boyd leaves, which i personally think is a certainty, he may have a massive role to play next season

Yeah, playing well against St Mirren doesn't really prove anything. He hasn't looked half the player at Rangers as he did at Killie. BUT, he is another attacking player who's played every position other than defence/in goals and hasn't had a decent run in this proper position. He is a deep lying forward, ideally behind a main striker in a 4-4-2 or on the left or right or a 4-3-3/4-5-1. He certainly does not fit in a midfield 4 and is wasted there.

I had really high hopes for him. He looked the brightest creative Scottish prospect since James McFadden and seemed to have wonderful potential. Maybe he's a bit like Derek Riordan in that he looks great for a poorer side but fails to make the grade at a bigger level?

Either way he wouldn't be the first talented Rangers player to have his career ruined by constantly being played out of position

The problem Naismith has is he's best set in a second striker position - and that's Miller's slot.

I mean he's versatile - he can play on the wings, despite what some think, and he's even reasonable as a CM, but with Davis on the right, Miller in the SS slot and the midfield we have, Naismith seems condemned to a bit part role.

If he hadn't had all those injuries he may well have asserted himself in the side by now, but bad luck has curtailed him.

I've never been too harsh on the lad - I think some have. He has something to give the team, as he showed on Sunday.

I have always been a big Naismith fan; even when there hasnt been a lot of reasn to be. I think the guy has genuine talent. The problem is, its not the beat-three-men-and-stick-it-in-the-top-corner talent that will impose itself immediately. I think he would need a run of ten games or something, in his favoured position, to start really seeing him at his best, and its hard to imagine how he is going to get that. I think a lot of players are like this - he wouldnt goto a mid level team and stand out, but in a good team he would be excellent, but because he may not get the chance he may be one of those never-realised-his-potential players, and its sad. Thankfully WS is loyal to his signings, and there may be an extended run for him yet.

Naismith started the season well then faded badly during Oct and Nov. Perhaps it is telling that our great run of performances in December was after Naismith dropped out of the team.

He needs to show a lot more than 14 minutes on Sunday to convince me that he is due a place in the team.

Quite agree Danny, very valuable player to have in the squad imo.
