Dr Preston Burke 0
Once you've become used to winning trophies, it can become difficult to adapt to playing for a middle of the road club with no real chance of honours. See Barry Ferguson as one example. Cuellar and Boumsong jumped ship before they'd won the league title, so part of me thinks (hopes) Bougie might only be prepared to leave for a club who could realistically challenge for honours, and thus would turn down sides like Sunderland
Danny 0
Once you've become used to winning trophies, it can become difficult to adapt to playing for a middle of the road club with no real chance of honours. See Barry Ferguson as one example. He didn't have any trouble adapting to Blackburn after a slow start - he just missed Ibrox. And he's certainly had no trouble getting used to Birmingham - bit of a renaissance man down there. Cuellar and Boumsong jumped ship before they'd won the league title, so part of me thinks (hopes) Bougie might only be prepared to leave for a club who could realistically challenge for honours, and thus would turn down sides like Sunderland Bougherra's a good player, but I'd have to say all our past big transfers out have been truly fantastic players - Cuellar, Hutton, Boumsong, and going further back Ferguson and GVB. These guys fetched 8M mostly. Bougherra wouldn't command that fee, he's a £4M player at best imo and the big teams want better than that.
Dr Preston Burke 0
I didn't mean Barry couldn't adapt to actually playing in England, but that he found it strange playing for a small, unambitious club whose cup final was against Burnley As for Bougie, £4 million is a bit low. I'd say he's probably worth around £6 million

Guest EvoX
I know that he is making all the right noises but to me its all smoke and mirrors. I dont think that anyone honestly feels that Bougherra will be here next season. I am not too fussed about him going as long as we get a decent fee for him and I would be delighted for him if Barcelona did come in and he went there because he certainly has the ability to play for a team like that. If Walter is in charge next season we all know that his ability to spot a defender is second to none so I wont feel the same pain as 'losing my firstborn' as I did when Cuellar went to the leaping leprachaun's mob.

Madjid Bougherra does not have the ability to play for Barcelona. Walter can spot a defender alright, but let's be a bit sensible about how good Bougherra is. He's a great SPL defender who was hit and miss at best in the CL - he did well in the ACN by all accounts but I guess the WC will be his real acid test.

On the contrary I think he would very much fit the bill for a team like Barcelona as a swashbucking centre half who loves to get forward. He has never been a patch on Cuellar who was quite simply a colossal siege defender but that doesnt make him a bad player. He is by miles the best defender in Scotland and brings a whole lot more to the table than just his ability to defend. As I said already Walter will pull a defensive rabbit out of the hat if he does go so Im none too fussed about it.

Guest EvoX
.As long as that rabbit isn't called Mark Reynolds... I wouldnt imagine so. If we had wanted Reynolds he would have been signed at the time.
