Extenuating circumstances

Recommended Posts

(Apologies if this really belongs in the OF thread, but I felt it deserved one of its own; if admin feel it should be merged, feel free)

I'm seeing a fair amount of criticism of the display today, and inasmuch as some of it is deserved, I felt today's result was an achievement rather than an overall let down.

Our recent run of fantastic form saw a very specific system - and saw unchanged lineups bar Beasley's injury.

Today saw the loss of 2 of our key players - Miller and Bougherra - one who dominates at the back and who has the pace to drag the ball out of defence, the other who has work ethic, movement and sheer running in abundance to hold the ball at the other end. Inside 15 minutes we lost another piece of the jigsaw when Novo was lost through injury.

We had to cope with some chopping and changing at the back whereby Bougherra's skill was absent, a different midfield where Davis was back on his weaker right, the middle had the in-from-the-cold Edu and McCulloch, and the catastrophically out of form Whittaker made up the left.

Up front the usual partnership was lost, and another one in cold storage, Lafferty, expected to run the line and immediately bond with Boyd.

All of the above made continuing recent brilliant form next to impossible - we didn't get going because we couldn't get going - as much as Celtic aren't very good, at least they knew themselves and their system. We had 3 or 4 players relatively alien to the team asked to do it at the cauldron of Parkhead. Only one of whom has been playing 90 minutes - and that was only in the last 2 games.

What I am saying is we've got away with murder - in a real state, we've stopped Celtic closing the gap - it goes down as an excellent result despite extremely trying circumstances.

Well i had no choice but to watch the game in the bheggars long standing Melbourne supportes club.

Granted I had one mate with me and my well known tim bird.

I shit you not lads, there were about 200 strong of the timothy cunts.

The plan was to keep a low profile (despite my trendier than those primarker losers style. Bench zippy in black and Royal).

I was literally the only bear there. Out of 200!

My temperament is generally diplomatic; but fuck me after a few jars I just couldn't help my self. I'm not saying I'm a hard cunt by any stretch of my imagination, but the fact remains however, that when Big Jig slammed that header home 2 mins after that wee ride scored; I fell to my knees, involuntarily- and screamed "Get it fuckin roon yez!!!!"

I got a drink thrown over the back o ma heid by a bitter jungle jim. Again, against my personality, I turned round and politely asked if he would wish to step outside. And then, 2 minutes later, re-inacted big lee's heedy. With gusto.

Hey lads, I'm a lover, not a fighter. But it was fuckin hilarious.

WE ARE THE FUCKIN PEOPLE xxxxxxxx

If I had to watch an OF game in amongst MOPES I wouldn't watch it,hats off to you.

I did it at Ibrox years ago when Rangers won 3-0. I had cramp by keeping my body stiff when we scored but it was worth it to witness the agony first hand.:)

I did it too, years ago. Ended up in a rat infested shithole with one other bear. It was the OF at Parkhead where Laudrup beat Stuart Kerr with that grass cutter. And 'that' miss from Van Vossen.

It was either this or listen only, and I would rather support my team than let tims stop me from doing so.

I've mentioned this on here before but a couple of years ago when Aberdeen were going well, around xmas time they came to Ibrox looking for a win that would take them above us.

My sheepy flat mate bought a ticket for the Rangers end and had to watch Boyd score a hat trick in the first half hour! :D Asked him what he did at the goals and he said he just clapped! I couldn't do that.

Different for you sitting in the wrong end when your team scores, you just have to try and not react. But to be sat in with the enemy when they score and have to fake celebrate. I couldn't do that. I'd have gotten found out at the first. Lol.
