Football is simple Walter

This is very Scottish - I read this thread this morning for the first time, and am filled with deep, deep foreboding for this afternoon. Too much positivity! Novo and Beasley will be rubbish and will be hooked at HT, with us 0-2 down!!

We're DOOMED!!!

2 games in a row playing 4-4-2 with players in natural positions and we beat St Johnstone 3-0 going on 6-0 then go to Tannadice and batter a supposed title contender!

A proper midfield 4 of 2 central midfielders (although I still dont think McCulloch is at his best there, but Davis is), with 2 wide men and look at the difference!

It's quite remarkable. We're playing a proper fluid system, a simple system of one DM and one CM, flanked by 2 wingers in Novo and Beasley, who support a currently blooming partnership of Miller and Boyd up front, including a Miller who's right back in form.

And bingo - we're getting results, and for the first time in ages, performances to go with them.

Does this show that Walter's a good or bad manager? For insisting on playing guys out of position for so long until recent then finding this fantastic formula? I don't know. We know he is stubborn - he kept playing guys like Fleck, Lafferty and Rothen on the left who just weren't doing it. Now it's Novo who is, while Beasley tears a new one on the right.

Walter confuses me.

It is strange that all of a sudden we seem to be playing a simple system and getting great results,is it WS fault ?,possibly but I can't help thinking a lot of these players have let WS down in their performances,as well as the fans. All of a sudden the players are playing to a level that WS expected them to play at,maybe they are all playing well for a reason ?,new contracts, world cup etc.The bottom line is the players are playing ti a high standard, for whatever reason, and must continue to play at the level they have shown recently,or is it when they don't it will be WS fault????

Exactly Ian, we are a fickle bunch. If we drop a few points in our next few games with the same formation and the same personnel you can guarantee that some will be blaming WS.

At the end of the day the buck stops with the manager though, which means both good AND bad results should be attributed to him. Yet sometimes when we get wins it is because of "luck" and when we lose it is WS fault.

WS is in a no-win situation with some of our fans, damned if he does and damned if he doesnt.

Personally.... I prefer to bask in this new-found form, no matter how long it lasts.
