Trouble in Seville Pub

Recommended Posts

The Rangers support were perfectly well behaved inside and around the ground.

But that doesn't suit the agenda, so we have managed to turn a group of Spanish hooligans attacking Rangers fans into our fault again.

I didn't see the incident, but I did pass the pub in question around 70 minutes before kick off and it was a pleasant atmosphere, with Rangers supporters enjoying themselves, the police standing watching in a relaxed manner, and plenty of good-natured banter between bears and the Seville fans making their way to the stadium.

On arriving at the stadium, I asked the stewards if there had been any hint or reports of trouble to that point, and he was happy to report that so far everything had went really well.

There was reports of a scuffle circulating around kick-off time, which is obviously the incident that the press have so eagerly picked up on.

Try as they might, the fact that this bar is well outside UEFA's geographical juristiction, and was caused by Seville fans, will mean no trouble for Rangers from UEFA, so poor Timmy and the scum mhedia will have to wait until next season now to continue their campaign against their own country's most successful club.

Amen to that

I didn't see a bit of bother, but did hear people referring to an incident that must be this one. One guy suggested it appeared coordinated with the Spaniards attacking, throwing bottles, then the police running in and attacking our fans who were the victims. I dunno about that though.

I was in a pub yards from the stadium. I was with a group of about 10 Rangers fans, though there were plenty more in that bar and a number of Seville fans. Got chatting to some who were helping us with our orders at the bar, their English was much better than my Spanish. Had a chat about the football, bought each other drinks and had a great time.

My Dad's colleague bought us tickets for the home end. 65 euros, supposed to be right on the half way line, but when we got to the stadium the police herded all Rangers fans into one corner of the stand and surrounded us. We weren't allowed down to the toilets except at half time. Probably the sensible option though, knowing we'd have a lot of fans in the wrong end just keep us all together. Annoyed we ended up in the "cheap" seats though. :(
