ian1964 10,781
I know at the AGM we were told by the chairman that renaming ibrox was not an option, but surely if someone wanted to hand out a fair amount of money to do this it would make sense to consider it ?, I don't mean get rid of the name Ibrox. Thoughts ?.
Frankie 8,696
Yeah must admit it wouldn't bother me all that much depending on a few factors including the proposed sponsor and associated sponsor. Would always be Ibrox to me in any case.
Totti 0
Few years ago I'd have probably gone apeshit at the idea but I'm at the point now where I couldn't really care and if it made money for the club then fair enough. We need to do something. I'd happily call the stadium the Sega Microsoft Google Whore-Dome if it meant serious cash injection and an end of watching shyte. I think Ian said in another topic that maybe the reason it was brought up at the AGM was to test the waters and I agree. Nobody has mentioned this idea for ages so why would it be part of the agenda? Would be typical of Murray. Say one thing do another.
Union City Blue 0
I think AJ was daft to rule this out tbh. But then again, he may not be around to deliver the promise so maybe he was just playing to the crowd.

More unlikely over-analysis but perhaps re-naming the stadium forms part of any new owner's business plan so AJ was using that aspect to discredit it in part if/when any new owner does release their model?

Never thought of that. It certainly seemed to be chucked-in there out of the blue when he said it so I suppose there must have been a reason.
maineflyer 0
I think they should all leave well alone. We're never going to get the sort of money that would make a real difference so I'd just as soon keep it clean.

Surprised Arsenal with their dignified history went for it.
craig 5,199
I agree. It's tacky and vulgar. Surprised Arsenal with their dignified history went for it. I have to admit that being an Arsenal fan and attending home games at Highbury for a few years that calling the new stadium "Emirates" doesn't bother me at all. Part of that could, though, be because it is a completely different stadium.
pete 2,499
After the Arke stadium and the Grolsch Veste from FC Twente i am now used to it but as someone else said a few years ago it would have been unthinkable for me. I remember debating against it in here a few years ago and i didn't want to know.
