Not always actually! It really depends on the context, but I know where you're coming from. It could be used in similar contexts as words such as 'fanboy' which often crop up in certain types of conversations. Something like 'fanboy' is generally used to insinuate that someone has a biased or even snobbish opinion on something, often regarding a preference for particular products or brands.
