The 'dead rubber' of Sevilla

Recommended Posts

I disagree with this.

While we don't have much chance of winning this game, we at least have to go and try and compete and hopefully get a result. Resting first team players and playing young players will not help us in any way,IMO, WS needs to play his best team to try and show a bit of pride,if any of our first team players were to get injured then I'd be quite confident that any young players coming into the team for an SPL game would stand a better chance than against experienced, quality European players

So we go over there and lose (very likely) and end injuring some of our key players (possible). What the fuck is achieved then?

FFS, just have a look at any other side in the CL this week who don't have anything to play for. They certainly will be resting players.

It's time we became more forward fucking thinking as a football club and stopped acting like retards.

Between now and the 19th of Dec we have 4 football games and Wed should be a rest.

t the team trying to do anything for the supporters who are spending a lot of money to watch this "dead rubber".

That is the crux of the matter IMO.

If I was a Rangers (or any) player I like to think I'd be looking up at the stands and appreciating from the bottom of my heart that 2,000 people came from Scotland/UK to Spain to watch me play football for their team. There's nothing like it on earth is there?

Another mature post from you I see. You're entitled to your opinion and so am I. I just don't see what we will achieve by playing youths/reserves ????

What we will achieve? The CL is over for us & we have the chance to play some youths at the highest level in European football without the result being much of a problem. I can see both sides of this debate, but from the point of view where the youths get a chance, there isn't really much to say other than give them the jersey and ask them to go out & beat Sevilla. If they had to lose, it's no disaster IMO. Like I said to Totti on the Match thread though, it's really not likely to happen, so we can expect most of our first team squad walking out on the pitch in Sevilla. My problem with that is exactly what Totti mentioned about risking our first team in a game that's far less important than our next SPL game & the one after that etc, but also the fact that as I said, this would be a chance to give youths more European experience. That's why I think (no, hope!) that Walter will start AT LEAST Wilson & Fleck from the U19's.
