craig 5,199
It's amazing what happens when a good young player comes into the team and does as good a job as the so called ''BIG'' players Yep, Wilson has been a revelation. But that as may be, breaking even on a player we were saying was untouchable very recently still doesn't make good financial business sense. These are some of the reasons we are struggling financially - we seem to attain a lower level of transfer fee than we should be. Just looking at common sense (admittedly ignoring the recent lateness back from international duty) we paid 2.5 for him when he was with Charlton who had been relegated. We take him and he assists us in winning the league, at the same time as being the best player in the country, and scores in the CL whilst playing CB. Is it just me that sees we have increased his profile, put him up against a better standard of player (in the CL at least) yet are looking to only receive what we paid for him ?
Danny 0
It's amazing what happens when a good young player comes into the team and does as good a job as the so called ''BIG'' players I'd argue said young player and McGregor have been the best Rangers players for the past month or two. Not a high accolade, true, but an accurate one.

I doubt many, if any, would disagree with you on that one Danny..... or are you tooting your own horn because you ARE Danny Wilson ?

Yes, I am taking time out from pinging 40-yard raking passes up to Kenny to talk to you chaps
maineflyer 0
Yes, I am taking time out from pinging 40-yard raking passes up to Kenny to talk to you chaps Well could you try pinging them instead to someone who is able to do something with them.

No it's not just you Craig, but there's a difference between what a player should be selling for & what we'll get these days at Ibrox. Bougherra 'should' be worth about double what we paid for him IMO, but we're not likely to get great offers for any of our players when the whole world of football know we're strapped for cash & willing to sell for relatively low prices. Bougherra's bad press certainly hasn't helped the situation either just as Fergie's bad press led to him being sold for no more than a third of his value & Adam being sold for no more than half his value (although in Adam's case it wasn't bad press at fault).
Danny 0
Well could you try pinging them instead to someone who is able to do something with them. I can accurately ping to Rangers players. I cannot accurately ping to players who can do something with the ball.
ian1964 10,826
When you're trying to get the debt down, getting players wages off the books will be taken into account, so that's why I don't expect to get the true value amount of his worth

Amazing what happens when even the best players (and I don't include Bougherra in that) fall out with their team and suffer bad press through their poor conduct. Look at Cassano - he's a guy, on his day, as good as anyone around, yet his regular temperamental problems and falling out with his team mates and managers mean his value has never been especially high. Balotelli is another one - seems he's a prima donna, a bit like Bougherra, and rather than him being courted as a world class striker, he's someone teams are deciding whether or not to 'take a risk' on, which devalues him. And Inter hardly need the cash like we do.
