bmck 117
Erm no, I think those of us with a modicum of sense know just how terrible the SPL is and has been for many seasons. That's so needlessly contentious. Someone with more than a modicum of a sense would surely realise how utterly stupid it is to respond to a minor point with such disproportionate and self-aggrandising sarcasm.

bmck 117
Hit a nerve did I Yup, the one that makes you yawn at people who wheel out "modicum of sense" nonsense and try to be condescending
Norris Cole 0
there is no other way to approach a game, i dont think. there are loads of threads lamenting our predicament. you need we-can-do-this-get-behind-the-team sentiment going to a game otherwise you might as well stay at home. I understand what you're saying, but "getting behind the team" isn't the issue here. My point is that when we get the same "we'll beat them, them, and draw away with them, they're shite, easy peasy etc. etc. etc" threads every couple of weeks that time and again are made to look stupid after yet another highly predictable let down, it is tiring. It does the poster no favours either because their posts will forever be taken with a pinch of salt. You can have the 'No Surrender' attitude without patronising people.

I agree that the calculating the points as soon as the group is drawn kind of ideas are nonsense. I'll bet no one predicted Unirea would get 4 points off us, a draw against Stuttgart (so far) and be leading Sevilla. But in a one off game, versus a team we'd beaten at home on both previous occasions (both recent) who are stuggling in their league, I think positive predictions were realistic. In any case, it doesn't matter now, unfortunately.

I doubt it though - they made similar unfounded predictions against Artmedia.
