If he can't cope with having an occasional bad game then he's probably not the man for us anyway. The over-protection of young players is a relatively new phenomenon and needs to be stopped. It's more about how you prepare them and we've consistently failed to focus on this under Walter Smith.

 

smith doesnt allow certain indivuals to have bad games, especially the kids. If they dont set the heather alight with every touch they barely see much game time.

 

This game is no time take chances. It is a must win game. So you go with experience on this one. PaPac and Smith is the only choice.

 

As for the boughy man, i wouldnt give him a game any more. replace him with wilson and sell him off to the highest bidder in the january transfer window.

 

I get the feeling he doesnt want to play for us anymore.

Absolutely no doubt about it in my mind. The lad is going to be a fixture for us, there seems no reason why he can't become a regular from now on. None of this "protecting the youngsters" bullshit we've been fed ever since Smith came back.

Funnily enough, on the newly launched Rangers online TV channel I was watching an interview with Willie Henderson and he was asked about breaking through as a youngster (primarily as he broke through at 17) and his response was "if you are good enough you are old enough" (old cliche I know but still.....).

 

He said that if you have the confidence in your ability then you should be played. If you play well you should remain in the team. Simples.
