Anyone think Boyd will start against Sevilla on Tuesday?

Obviously he won't if we're playing a 4-5-1 & we'll see Kenny Miller chosen to run around up front on his own, but what if we go 4-4-2? Do you think Boyd will get his chance & actually start against the Spanish outfit? I'd love to see him getting the chance & managing to get us a couple of goals!! :)

I doubt he will get a game. Would be happy enough for him to get a game though because he does deserve a chance in Europe for the goals he bangs in at the domestic level.

I suppose it'll really just depend whether Walter thinks it's wise to line us up in a 4-4-2 at Ibrox, but something's telling me he'll play it safe and put out a 4-5-1 again.

I think in previous seasons Boyd had earned the right to have a shot at European opposition if we were to go with two up top.

Based on his recent performances he hasn't done enough to justify a game and isn't scoring.

Having said that Kenny Miller, who is guaranteed to start as the lone forward, has possibly been even worse.

I'm thinking that if Boyd was given a start up front against Sevilla at Ibrox, it could possibly bring out the best in the guy & we might witness a Boyd wearing his shooting boots. Obviously it would also depend on the team performance & the strikers getting the right service from midfield. If we were really going for it, we could hit them with a proper 4-3-3 with all 3 strikers -

Boyd always has his shooting boots. Problem recently has been a lack of chacnes created by midfield which is also not helped by Boyd's own game which possibly reduces the opportunity to create.

Against Sevilla I'd have no worries about his shooting boots, just about making the chances for him. And my worries would relate to his own link pay as well as the performance of the midfield.

Agreed. It's all about the chances. Even if he does play in an attacking line up, the chances are going to be very limited if we're constantly on the back foot & spend most of the game sitting too deep defending. The problem we have is that if we give Sevilla the space they could potentially have the game won by half time. Difficult decision for Walter imo, but like I said, I can see him trying to play it safe & set out to not lose the game which probably means we'll witness a backs to the wall display.
