I'm sure he's only banned from the dugout. They can't stop him going into the dressing room.

Rangers manager Walter Smith has been suspended from the touchline for four games after being sent to the stand against Kilmarnock on Saturday.

His dugout ban will kick in from 3 October, which means he will be in the stand for the Old Firm encounter against Celtic the following day.

Smith is not likely to appeal against the decision by the Scottish FA.

He was sent to the stand after reacting angrily when a red card was shown to Rangers midfielder Pedro Mendes.

Smith confronted Kilmarnock striker Connor Sammon, who he believed had been encouraging the referee to send off the Rangers player.

Sammon insisted that he had actually been appealing for the official to play advantage.

The Rangers manager later admitted that he should not have reacted the way he did and told BBC Scotland he was unlikely to appeal against any punishment decided by the SFA disciplinary committee.

Smith was banned for four games because it is his second report of misconduct within three seasons.

It means that he will have to sit in the stand for the reigning champions' first derby of the season against the current Scottish Premier League leaders.
