Pedro Mendes - Red Cards query

Recommended Posts

With Weir not fit to play midweek there was obviously a bit of pre-match concern that with Boogie suspended we might not be able to field any recognised centrebacks.

Now with that susepension nearly costing us more than perhaps it did, will Mendes only be missing the QOS game or will it be Aberdeen? He may not be performing great but i'd rather have him available for a home game with the Sheep than not.

I don't know which game(s) he's banned for but I can't see him being a massive loss in either, whoever we have to draft in.

Mendes seems to be in the team these days solely in the hope he'll produce something out of nothing , and he's not even done that for a while.

Last Wednesday was supposed to be his big stage where he would shine but he was the worst player on the park and outshone by Stevie Naismith.

I wouldnt miss Mendes right now and, in fact, would be happier seeing Davis inside with Thomson beside him (as Norris has). Mendes flatters to deceive. Capable of the sublime but far too often produces nothing.

I actually think with Thomson and Mendes we have speed, pacem tenacity, vision work-rate and a will to win. Mendes is, IMO, fast becoming a Barry Ferguson. With no disrepect to Barry, he dictated the speed of play and Mendes seems to be taking on that mantle. I have no issue with that other than the speed he is dictating is snails pace. We have the players to play crisper passing, better movement and movement into spaces... so play it.

In answer to your question S_A I dont know. But it could be a blessing if Davis is moved inside along Thomson.

In fact, I will put my hard hat on here.... and say..... I wouldnt be disappointed if we sold Mendes in January

I think we will see a change with Smith resting what he sees as key men in a game our reserves should really be winning.

No disrespect but WS changed his team yesterday. Our reserves really should have been able to take 3 points from Killie yesterday. Our 1st team couldnt. Dont be surprised if WS fields a full strength team.

I dont mean he will make sweeping changes and play a reserve side.

But Mendes could well be "rested".

Wilson should, but most likely wont come in.

I feel there is little value in playing Miller against a "diddy" side and so would keep him fresh as he will be ploughing a lone furrow in Europe and against the ****s.

That's 3 first team players potentially out of the starting XI for the wee cup.
