Whosthedado 1,742
McCulloch has had a great start to the season though I would agree with that. Maybe for Wednesday it will be Naismith that is sacrificed?
craig 5,199
McCulloch has had a great start to the season though I agree, but I can see him being found out against superior opposition. He is pretty slow and loses possession quite easily. I wouldnt play a midfield of Davis, Mendes, McCulloch, Thomson and Rothen unless, of course, we play McCulloch as a holding mid and then have a flatter midfield 4. Personally I would prefer we played with a flat 4 and then someone ahead of them to link play between midfield and attack. McCulloch would make way for Naismith in my team That said, WS is far more likely to go the cautious holding mid approach.

A point in germany would be a brilliant result McCulloch should in pre season that he can do good against quality opposition

craig 5,199
Pre-season is never that good an indicator of how you will perform when in competitive action. That said, I can see WS going with McCulloch as holding mid, Davis, Mendes, Thomson and Rothen as a flat 4 and then Miller up front. Would be harsh to see McCulloch squeezed out with how he has started the season.
Super_Ally 0
From the gospel according to Screebs: V Motherwell = 11 SPL games inc 2 sub apps, 11 goals (3 pens). 1 double. Won 7 Drew 4. Missed 1 game through suspension. 803 minutes played v Motherwell in SPL. Boyd has scored in 10 out of 11 games with Motherwell then? Averaging a goal a game. Gotta give him a start. No 4-5-1 at Fir Park for me. A genuine 4-3-3 I would not mind so much. Edited September 10, 2009 by Super_Ally
Whosthedado 1,742
I've said before that I don't think we should be playing 4-5-1 anywhere in Scotland and I include the Piggery. Also Boyd would be in EVERY SPL game if I was picking. As the song goes gets the ball scores a goal etc. I think the pitch has been sorted at Fir Park. Not seen much of Motherwell but Gannon seems to be going with mainly kids in the side. Hopefully they'll be a wee bit overawed by the prospect of facing the Champions :spl:

Just kidding - to both S_A AND Jon ! Very decent record. I would be tempted to play him and Naismith actually. Naismith seems to be in good form and he would do Boyd's running for him. Naismith is also a wee bit more creative than Miller. Will be interesting to see what WS does with his midfield and forwards as he has plenty of options.
