Scotland's Best Chance Of Finishing Second Is...

Recommended Posts

Yes but it's an average. As there's only 5 teams in our group the 2nd placed team is always at a disadvantage when it comes to the 8 best placed runners up. The runners-up in groups with 6 or 7 teams in them should always have more points than us.

No as in groups of 6 they take the points off whatever you got against the bottom side of the group, so then it becomes a 5 team group

So, as it currently stands, we qualify?

Yes

But check how many games Hungary and Bosnia have played, only 5.

No, they've played 7 from their 10 games while we've played 7 from our 8 games. If Turkey & Spain both beat Bosnia we'd be in with a shout if we beat Holland, but the spanner in the works with that group is that Turkey can still realistically take 9 points from their last 3 games since they've already played Spain twice. That would see Turkey into the play-offs.

As for Hungary, I doubt very much that they'll finish 2nd in group 1 anyway since they still have a double header against Portugal & a final game away in Denmark to play. Tough group to call actually, but if the Danes beat Albania on Wednesday it looks like Hungary will be slogging it out for 2nd place with Portugal & Sweden... ouch..
