Zappa 0
I didn't think it was a penalty, but the Ref's decision is what should stand in cases like this. There's no way Eduardo should be handed a ban or anything by UEFA because it just opens up a whole can of worms that UEFA are obviously just going to close again & not continue doing the same thing. I bet the pope phoned Platini.
Gazza_8 233
They got their wish, he's got a 2 game european ban.
craig 5,199
They got their wish, he's got a 2 game european ban. UEFA have now screwed themselves. Every single game in the CL and Europa this season will be scrutinised to the nth degree and they will be inundated with expectation to ban ANY player who dives for a couple of games.

Every single game in the CL and Europa this season will be scrutinised to the nth degree and they will be inundated with expectation to ban ANY player who dives for a couple of games. Not only that. They're going to be getting harassed into making decisions on other mistakes made by Refs such as challenges which should by the letter of the law command a red card, but the Ref hasn't given it. Can't believe they've given out that ban.
craig 5,199
And heaven help any Rangers player who would be daft enough to dive in the CL because you can very, very easily see a concerted Tim effort to have them hung, drawn and quartered !

Aye, our media and association are just as quick to go into bat to get us censored as they are to protect the interests of Celtic.
craig 5,199
Surprised no-one has added to this. UEFA have confirmed that despite banning Eduardo for diving they will NOT look into similar instances in the CL this season. So they have basically suspended one player and will now refuse to suspend others for similar theatrics. Appalling from UEFA (not to ban Eduardo but to not carry it through their tournaments this season. Smacks of them not really wanting to eradicate simulation). I cant find the link to the story unfortunately.
