That was the strengths of those two managers. What's to say when another manager comes in his strength is to go out and attack the opposition. If it works, he'll be hailed a hero!

 

I disagree. Those managers realised what they had to work with and set teams out to play to their strengths. Burley has basically said "this is my philosophy and I will force players into that philosophy". That wont work with Scotland because we simply dont have the players for it.

 

When was the last time we had the creative quality to go out and attack teams ?

I feel this squad is the best we've had in a long time. It's just a pity we have a donkey as head coach and 2 donkeys as his assistants.

Would we have won with Boyd in the team?

 

Holland would've beaten us, Norway would've beaten us, we beat Iceland anyway. We'd possibly have beaten Norway at Hampden with Boyd.

 

Would've lost to Holland. Agreed.

 

More likely to have beaten Norway at Hampden and still beaten Iceland.

 

Prior to the most recent match with Norway we would have been 3 points better off compared to them. They would have already been (all but) out.

 

Might very well have made that match completely different.

 

At worst though we would most likely be 2 points better off, sitting in 2nd right now with Norway 1 point worse off and out of contention for 2nd really. Leaving only Macedonia to compete with.

 

Those 2 points could well be the difference between getting a play-off place or not.
