Still, even though its pre-season, still feels bad losing 3-0 to anyone.

The tinks beat a 'decent' Spurs side with their reserve team the other week.

Maybe they should have sharpened up the team they planned to put out against the Russians last week, hahaha, instead of using the reserves.

Do you think Mowbray will become famous for these backfiring howlers?

Hope so!

And didn't look too clever getting beat at home by the mighty Sunderland.

Pre-season football is all about fitness and match sharpness. Results inconsequential, though it's always nice to win.

I'd say pre-season seems to be working out well for us so far.

ESPN to offer free Premier League footageMore than 110,000 fans passed through the gates at Arsenals Emirates Stadium for the Emirates Cup this weekend, swelling the clubs coffers by more than US$6.5 million.

At an average ticket price of UK£35 (US$59), the 110,982 fans who attended the tournament featuring Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Paris St-Germain and Rangers added a sizeable amount to the clubâs bank balance before sponsorship, including the title sponsorship with Emirates and major sponsors such as bet-at-home.com, is even taken into account.

The tournament, managed by agency Kentaro, saw Arsenal regain the trophy thanks to wins over Rangers and Atletico Madrid, with 17-year-old midfielder Jack Wilshere shining in front of a crowd including England manager Fabio Capello, and collecting two man of the match awards. In the other matches, Rangers recorded a 1-0 win over PSG, who secured a draw in their clash with Atletico Madrid, which finished 1-1 after Ludovic Giuly cancelled out a Sergio Aguero penalty.

[[Each of the visiting clubs is believed to have received an appearance fee of more than US$1 million.]]

The next issue of SportsPro magazine, available at the start of September, will feature an in-depth analysis of the Emirates Cup tournament as part of a special feature on the business of soccer. For more information about SportsPro magazine, click here.

In a week when a bheast knocked out a Dinamo Moscow fan with a brick, and Celtic fans continued where they left off last season with their despicable, not to say illegal IRAokes, some Rangers fans somewhere apparently sung something that some weasel mope decided to take mock offence at as a means of attacking the champions.

The season must be starting.

Yip, seems we've brought in around £2million over the last few days...

Tonel in please.

hopefully we get tonel in ASAP or a decnt defender. hopefully celtic go out and we get even more cash.

how many more players need to leave now, surely we have a small enough and enough high earner to leave squad ? beasley ? s.smith?

Would keep Smith. Only other left back.

Beasley is possibly the most ineffectual player in our squad and should have been out the door long before Adam. Truly woeful for us.
