Gers have accepted Blackpool's £500,000 bid for Charlie Adam.

Very disappointed with this news. :(

Another one of our most promising youngsters slips through our fingers. With Burke I could understand it as giving him a contract extension with his injury record was always going to be a gamble. In Adam's case it's more of a gamble to let him go. Rangers could be made to look very foolish on this one.

Apart from anything else it just doesn't make sense to move him on for so little as ANY other club in the SPL would have been demanding AT LEAST double that. He had his off days, but even the club website says how effective he was the rest of the time.

Our youth system doesn't stand a chance if the club AND support maintain their current attitude.

Aye, when Robert said £500k was as much as we could expect my first thought was that was a sad indictment of our abilities in the transfer market rather than a reflection of Adam's ability and worth.

i know we shouldn't, but when you compare the sums that c*lt*c have received for some of their fringe players... and how much we over-pay for some players 500k is ridiculous!

decent early 20s striker from championship = £3~4m

decent early 20s midfielder from rangers (who cut it at championship level) = £0.5m

Don't need to name names... but alan gow could fall into this bracket too!

Congratulations Martin Bain. 500k for a goal scoring midfielder with a cultured left foot that, if we are to believe reports, impressed many a Championship manager during his recent loan spell.

Utter desperation and negligence on our part or realistically the best we could hope for?

I know which of the two scenarios seems more likely.

I agree with most of the posters here & the bottom line for me is that it's absolutely dismal that we're prepared to let Adam go for this money. If we go out and spend any more than 500k on someone who's less useful than Adam it's a disgrace. The club might have large debts, but if we don't spend too much in this window the debts should be almost halved, with the emphasis on 'should be'.

A players remaining contract length has to be taken into consideration when selling. Does anyone know how long Adam had left on his last contract?

3 yrs AFAIK.
