pete 2,499
MADJID BOUGHERRA took a massive step towards the World Cup finals as he scored the opener in Algeria's 2-0 win over Zambia. Madjid BougherraThe Rangers defender nodded home a free kick in the first half of this afternoon's game to give his side a priceless lead in Chililabombwe. And substitute Rafik Saifi made sure of the victory just after the hour mark to leave the Algerians on course for South Africa. With three of their six qualifying pool games gone, Bougherra's nation leads African Group C by three points. And as only one team from the section goes on to next summer's competition, Algeria are undoubted favourites at this stage to progress. They are now on seven points, three ahead of Zambia, with Rwanda and Egypt both sitting on one and with a game in hand against each other. The Desert Foxes have not been to the World Cup finals since the 1986 tournament in Mexico. But after an impressive start to the final stage of the preliminary campaign, they are in a good position as they bid to end their long absence from the big stage. I really hope we can keep big Madjid next season but i have a feeling EPL teams are going to be moving in. No matter what we say about the scouting system they do seem to have a knack at spotting a good defender. Let's hope we keep Madjid and the scouts can pull another ace out of their sleeve
Cotter 0
How times have changed. These days I actually hope our better (foreign) players perform poorly for their national teams so they don't draw attention to themselves. I remember the same feeling in 2008 when we were all willing those pesky impartial English commentators to shut up about Cuellar in the European games. Gaun yersel Madjid, when you're wearing blue...:spl:
Wija 0
Hopefully he will stay, and I hope he realises what he can achieve at Rangers.
