Evening Times has Webster going to Dundee Utd on loan

What a waste of wage this guy is. Doesn't look like he'll ever be fit enough to play a part for the 1st team

He'll goto Dundee United and have an absolute blinder of a season.

Rumour on Sporting Life today, reported in the Record :

VARGAS INVITES OLD FIRM BIDS

Chilean whizzkid Eduardo Vargas has invited the Old Firm to make moves for him, claiming a switch to Glasgow would help make him a "complete striker".

The 19-year-old, player of the competition at the recent Toulon Tournament, has been linked with several clubs around Europe, including Spanish sides Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao.

But he has his sights set on a move to Britain, though Celtic and Rangers could face competition for his signature with Manchester City, Wigan and Ipswich also thought to be monitoring him.

The Old Firm have the advantage of being able to offer Champions League football to a player rated at his club Cobreloa around the £1.5million mark.

And Vargas told the Daily Record: "I really want to play in the UK because that could help me become the player I want to be.

"I have seen the British game and admire the physical aspect of it."

He added: "I am relishing the challenge of going to Scotland and becoming the first Chilean to make the grade.

"Some people say South Americans can't play in Scotland and England but that's rubbish.

"Now I just want the chance to come to Scotland and show how good I am."

And a transfer OUT rumour - not much of a rumour though.....

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway remains hopeful that a deal can be done to bring Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam back to the club.

The Scotland international impressed while on loan at Bloomfield Road last season and Holloway likes what he has seen in the 23-year-old.

"I don't think his wages will be a problem, but it all boils down to whether the chairman can come to a deal with Rangers for him," Holloway told skysports.com.

"I've seen a couple of DVDs of the lad and he looks a fantastic player that is very calm and calculated on the ball, so we will be trying to come to an agreement for his services.

"He's very good with the ball at his feet, attacking the opposition defence, so he would be a great addition."

Holloway has yet to make his first new signing since taking over the reins at the Seasiders from Tony Parkes and he revealed that he is in no rush.

"There won't be a great number of players coming into the club, but I'm probably four or five players short of the squad that I want," he added.

"I will be taking my time to bring the right players in though and if I have got to borrow them from other clubs then I will do. I've checked through the free transfers list and to be fair to them most of the better ones have been taken already.

"Clubs just don't let their better players leave for nothing if they can help it.

"I will be looking at clubs that have big squads and trying to borrow a few to supplement what we already have here. It is nice to have some available spaces to try a couple of things out during pre-season because we aren't in any debt and we can afford to take our time in bringing the right players to the club.

"We can now try to pick the bones out of the other clubs which can't afford to keep what they have already got."

Birmingham stall on move for Barry Ferguson

Jun 29 2009 By Anthony Haggerty

ALEX McLEISH last night admitted he is holding fire on a £1million move for Barry Ferguson.

The Birmingham City boss remains keen on the 31-year-old, who played for him when he was manager of Rangers and Scotland.

Ferguson returned to Walter Smith's side at the end of last season after being axed in the wake of his role in the infamous Boozegate affair while he was on international duty.

However, his future appears to lie away from Ibrox.

McLeish has made it clear he is seeking to bring in a commanding midfielder but is weighing up several options.

Birmingham, who won promotion back to the Premiership last season, have already made an ambitious bid to sign former Arsenal star Patrick Vieira from Inter Milan but the Frenchman rejected a move to St Andrews.

McLeish refused to rule out a move for Ferguson at this stage but wants to explore all his options.

He said: "Barry is definitely someone we've given consideration to among others. I don't want to commit myself right away to the midfield situation.

"There is still a wee bit to go, a little bit of work to be done. We hope to bring in a midfielder of real quality who can go anywhere in the league and not be fazed by taking the ball.

"Ferguson has come in late in the day in terms of knowing he is now available.

"We won't be making our mind up right now and no deal with Barry is imminent."

Meanwhile, former Dundee United loan ace Warren Feeney, who has been linked with a move to Rangers, last night revealed he would be keen on another stint in Scotland. The Northern Ireland international recently finished a season long loan at Tannadice from Cardiff where he bagged six goals in 22 games.

Ibrox boss Smith has earmarked the 28-year-old hitman for next season's defence of their SPL title and Feeney would be open to another loan move, with a view to making it permanent.

Feeney, who has one year left on his contract, accepts he is not part of boss Dave Jones' plans at Cardiff.

And the Northern Irishman has insisted his next big move will be his last.

He said: "I had a good time playing for Dundee United and I'll be looking to go out on loan again if I can. The gaffer has his squad and I can't see myself being a part of that.

"I'm at my peak now and the next big move for me will be my last. The deal won't be about the money.

"It will be about the security. We are due back next week for pre-season. At the moment I'm not sure of the gaffer's plans for me but my agent tells me of interest in Scotland and England.

"But if a deal is offered from Cardiff or elsewhere and gives me the kind of security I'm looking for then that will do me.

"I can then concentrate on doing my utmost for whichever club it is and also try to get Northern Ireland to next year's World Cup.

"It's been a long time since I played for Cardiff City and they have done really well in the meantime.

"I'll report back for training and work as hard as I possibly can. Then we'll see how things work out, although I'm keen to be playing first-team football again."
