SSN: Dailly and Hemdani Freed - Weir Offered New Contract

Recommended Posts

I think Weir's problem rather than lack of pace is that because of the position he plays, there's nowhere to hide, so if he has a poor game (which is inevitable at various points through a season) its blindingly obvious. I was just thinking that whenever we seem to be playing too deep or criticising him for his lack of pace etc it never seems to last and within a game or two the defence is looking solid again. I've noticed a definite improvement since Alexander came in and Whittaker has had a run in the team at RB, the defence is looking more solid again.

That said, it would be good to see a long-term replacement come in now and learn from Weir, phase him in next season maybe. I still think we've got a ready-made replacement in Webster if he's finally fit, which it would appear is the case at long last.

I'm sure I read that Broadfoot is always one of the few who does extra training and I think he was doing stuff over last close season as well with a coach, not sure if he was one of ours or a guy that Kirk had hired. I don't think there's ever been any doubt over his commitment and attitude though, but still nice to hear about stuff like that.

Re Broadfoot - he got his own personal trainer during the close season last year - he wanted to make sure he hit pre-season running, so to speak.

If only others had his work ethic....
