No, not the decision to go at them from the first whistle. I think that is the decision that won us the game and the league so comfortably. However, every one saw that.

The tactical decision I want to mention though is to do with the strikers.

Was it just me, or did it appear Boyd had been given instruction to drop in and help out the midifield when we didn't have the ball? Tracking back and harrying players, whilst Miller stayed furthest forward as a spearhead to the attack.

Seemed odd to me. Miller's greater movement and work rate would surely make him more effective for the role of additional defensive duties? On the flip side, if when we get the ball back Miller's pace would make him a better option for breaking and attacking United or chasing balls over the top and into the channels.

Definitely seemed to me though that Smith had tasked Boyd with making a nuisance of himself in midfield when United had the ball whilst Miller kept them stretched by being the furthest man forward.

I noticed that in the 1st half half while United were attacking us. I wondered why it was Boyd tucking in and not Miller but, I suppose it worked. On the other hand, it gave us an "out" option for the punt up the field. If it were Boyd as the only man up top we'd have struggled to regain possession as Boyd won't chase lost causes.

Yeh I thought it seemed strange but assumed it was due to the same reasons you have given.

Was funny at one point watching Boyd chasing some United boy and kicking him constantly. Not malicious. Just tackling like a typical forward.
