Yes, when it comes down to the last day of the season and the OF are playing in different cities the trophy has to be flown by helicopter to the winners. But there has only every been one Helicopter Sunday. No helicopter thursday or rubbish like that!

The Trophy had green and white ribbons on it and was almost at strathclyde park to be presented to celtic when the helicopter changed direction and flew the trophy to Easter Road, Edinburgh to Rangers where it belongs. The best wait ever.

Helicopter Sunday: 22/5/05

There has only been one Helicopter sunday, don't let them tell you otherwise or steal our glory!

The reason the phrase comes about is because it was in their hands prior to kick off and they were winning it until the last couple of minutes and as Andy rightly points and to (approximately) quote the commentator "the helicopter changed direction".

When they won it they went into the game ahead and that never changed. No swings on the final day, no helicopter changing direction. No Helicopter Sunday. Why do they find that so difficult to follow.

It is merely their attempts to deflect the pain of losing the title in such dramatic circumstances, in trying to steal the phrase we coined. It does not work, it does not fit, it does not make any sense except when used in the proper context.

I'm extremely annoyed at the dilution of this phrase by the media. As Andy says, there will only ever be one Helicopter Sunday! And it was one of the best days as a bear.

I know Celtic fans like stealing stuff and being second best but even they surely wouldn't want to use such a phrase?

Dunno if you remember when I was on the scotprem (I think that's the right one) website and they had a wee paragraph on each of the last few seasons. They had some event known as helicopter thursday referred to and yet nothing on the the real mccoy; Helicopter Sunday.

Emailed the chunts and they never replied! Must be a mhank webmaster.

I understand why the media want to use such a catchy phrase but even they must realise it only applies to Rangers and any subsequent usage only looks daft.

As you say it sounds like some desperate Celtic supporter trying to remove the bad memories by using it for himself. And failing! :D

That is exactly what it is mate. And even though, logically, it makes no sense those in the media who are of a Celtic persuasion are complicit. Not claiming conspiracy, but it is reasonable to suggest Celtic fans in the mhedia would attempt to facilitate such a move for the Celtc support at large.

There's only one Helicopter Sunday though. We know it. They know it. Get it up them. :rfc:
